Holy Cross Hospital Salt Lake is seeking a Supervisor Food Services to lead the department's daily operations and contribute to new process development. You will balance administrative duties with hands-on leadership to support staff and ensure high service standards.

You will supervise cooks and storeroom staff, coordinate infection control practices, assist in menu planning for patient care, cafeteria, and catering, and participate in staffing, recruitment, and workload management to maintain

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in foodservice or 1 year in hospital nutrition.
  • Registered Dietitian or Certified Dietary Manager within 24 months.
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager upon hire.
  • ServSafe Allergen within 60 days.
  • FHP or ServSafe: UT – eligibility as listed.

Responsibilities

  • Directs FNS staff, including cooks and storeroom clerks, to meet all operational needs.
  • Collaborates to implement infection control practices maintaining a safe facility.
  • Primary contact for patients, staff, and customers; relay feedback to drive improvement.
  • Maintains cost-efficient staffing by managing recruitment, performance, and workload assignments.
  • Participates in menu planning for patient care, cafeteria, and catering services.
  • Provides hands-on supervision and performs additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Supervisor Food Services, you will be responsible for maintaining and administering established department operational systems while actively contributing to the development of new processes as a key member of the management team. You will play a vital role in ensuring that all operational needs of the staff are met to maintain high standards of service.

Every day you will spend over 50% of your time providing direct, hands‑on leadership to your team. By working closely alongside your staff, you will ensure daily tasks are executed efficiently while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that promotes operational excellence.

To be successful in this role, you will need to balance high‑level administrative responsibilities with an approachable, engaged leadership style. Your ability to integrate into the daily workflow while maintaining a strategic management perspective will be essential to your success and the overall performance of the food service department.

  • Directs FNS staff, including cooks and storeroom clerks, to ensure all operational needs are effectively met.
  • Collaborates with the storeroom clerk to implement and sustain rigorous infection control practices, maintaining a safe, sanitary, and orderly facility.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for patients, staff, and customers, relaying service feedback to the management team to drive improvement.
  • Maintains cost‑efficient staffing levels by managing recruitment, hiring, performance, and daily workload assignments based on shifting priorities.
  • Actively participates in the planning and development of menus for patient care, cafeteria, and catering services.
  • Provides hands‑on supervision and performs additional duties as assigned by leadership to ensure seamless food service operations.
Job Requirements
Required
  • Two (2) years of experience in foodservice or one (1) year of hospital nutrition experience
  • Registered Dietitian or Certified Dietary Manager within 24 months
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager upon hire
  • ServSafe Allergen (ServSafe Gen) within 60 days
  • FHP:- within 30 days or state requirement
    • FHP ANSI approved or ServSafe : AZ - Maricopa, Yavapai
    • FHP ANSI approved or ServSafe: CA - Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego
    • FHP: City of Leavenworth: KS - Leavenworth
    • FHP or ServSafe: KY - Jessamine, Fayette, Madison, Montgomery
    • FHP: NE - Lancaster - Lancaster County Food Protection Manager Permit
    • FHP: NV - Clark - Clark County Food Handler
    • FHP ANSI or ServSafe: OR
    • FHP ANSI approved or ServSafe: TX
    • FHP or ServSafe: UT
    • FHP State Approved: WA
Preferred
  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic computer skills and leadership experience
