Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Lab Supervisor to lead a development and test technician team in our Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering lab. You will mentor staff, drive safe, efficient work, and ensure adherence to quality standards while supporting engineering development activities.

You will plan daily work, coordinate with engineering teams for testing and hardware builds, and manage lab resources and documentation while pursuing continuous improvement and team growth.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of aerospace labs, manufacturing, or technical ops experience.
  • 1+ year in a leadership, supervisory, or team-lead role.
  • Strong safety practices and quality standards.
  • Proficient with data tracking, reporting, and productivity tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated lab Supervisor to lead a team of development and test technicians. In this role, you will mentor and develop a team, and ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. You will play a key role in supporting engineering development activities and driving continuous improvement within the lab environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of development lab technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign daily work to meet development schedules and program milestones.
  • Ensure all lab activities are conducted in compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and established procedures.
  • Partner with engineering teams to support development testing, prototyping, and hardware builds.
  • Monitor team performance, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Train and onboard new technicians, ensuring proper skill development and adherence to best practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Manage lab resources, including tools, equipment, and consumables, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reporting related to lab operations and activities.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts when issues arise.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in aerospace labs, manufacturing, or technical operations environment.
  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership, supervisory, or team lead role.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices and quality standards.
  • Proficiency with data tracking, reporting, and productivity tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience mentoring or training entry-level employees.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in a lab environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering-related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
Base Pay Range for:

WA applicants is $47.82 - $66.94
