Job summary

Vertiv seeks a Second Shift Supervisor to oversee operations, maintenance, and resource management of one or more facilities on the 5:00 pm–1:00 am shift. You will lead Facility Technicians and Machine Maintenance Technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in facility management, electrical or mechanical engineering, operations management, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of facility maintenance experience.
  • 3–5 years of management experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical and building codes.
  • Knowledge of NFPA, EPA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift 45+ pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Coordinate with Operations, Planning, and Engineering teams.
  • Administer time and attendance for direct reports.
  • Maintain plant one-line electrical drawing updates.
  • Assist with architectural and layout work for equipment/facilities.
  • Identify and pursue capital projects for cost reductions.
  • Prepare bids and evaluate proposals for capital/service work.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

The Second Shift Supervisor (5:00 pm to 1:00 am) is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, cleaning, and resource management of one or more Vertiv facilities during the second shift. This position oversees facility and building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure, as well as production equipment and machinery.

Job Summary

The Second Shift Supervisor (5:00 pm to 1:00 am) is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, cleaning, and resource management of one or more Vertiv facilities during the second shift. This position oversees facility and building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure, as well as production equipment and machinery.

This role provides leadership to a cross-functional team of Facility Technicians and Machine Maintenance Technicians, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations throughout the shift.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise Facility Technicians and Machine Maintenance Technicians.
  • Monitor and train team members while ensuring compliance with all safety requirements and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Serve as the local subject matter expert for the Vertiv Operating System and report required maintenance performance metrics.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Assist with the development and scheduling of preventive maintenance activities, ensuring work orders are completed on time.
  • Support the reliable operation of plant equipment, machinery, building systems, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are properly maintained and in working order.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities across relevant technical areas, including electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Facilitate immediate maintenance intervention and follow-up actions to resolve equipment, machinery, facility, and infrastructure issues.
  • Order and maintain an inventory of critical spare parts, equipment, and tools.
  • Provide technical assistance to technicians, electricians, and mechanics in resolving maintenance issues.
  • Support the technical development of the maintenance team, including skills development, communication, and teamwork.
  • Provide daily reporting on shift activities, maintenance issues, resolutions, and emerging concerns.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Planning, and Engineering teams to support efficient productivity.
  • Administer time and attendance for direct reports using the designated time-management system.
  • Maintain updates to the plant’s one-line electrical drawing.
  • Assist with architectural design, electrical, mechanical, environmental, and layout work related to equipment, construction, or facility rearrangements.
  • Identify and implement capital projects that support cost reductions.
  • Prepare capital and service specifications for bids, evaluate bids, and provide recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in facility maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or electrical maintenance.
  • Three to five years of management experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical and building codes.
  • Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association, Environmental Protection Agency, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
  • Strong functional knowledge of computerized maintenance management software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with business partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift more than 45 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Facility Manager accreditation.
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
