Job summary

U.S. Tsubaki Automotive in Holyoke, MA is seeking a Shift Supervisor to lead the production team, drive safety, quality, delivery, and productivity, and supervise daily activities within the department.

The role emphasizes lean manufacturing, process improvement, budget development, and collaboration with Planning, Sales, Engineering, and Production to meet goals; strong problem solving and ERP experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Project Management, and ISO procedures.
  • Ability to apply business math to production and inventory.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using logical thinking.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Create and monitor daily material flow within the department.
  • Implement continuous improvement plans for equipment and department.
  • Develop and track annual department budget to reduce costs.
  • Foster relationships with Planning, Sales, Engineering, and Production.
  • Coordinate activities and make decisions on production schedules and attendance.

Shift Supervisors are responsible for directing, coordinating, training, coaching, and supervising the daily activities of assigned employees that are directly and/or indirectly engaged in the production process of assigned products/departments/processes in manner that ensures that all safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and labor utilization goals are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and monitor daily efficient flow of material through the department by utilization of manpower and equipment in the department.
  • Determine and implement continuous improvement plans for the equipment, and overall department.
  • Develop and track yearly budget for the department ensure goals are met by reducing cost related to production and MRO supplies.
  • Foster working relationships with associated departments i.e. Planning, Sales, Engineering and Production, Business Development.
  • Understands, communicates, and follows all company policies, work rules, and Union Contract. Effectively utilizes this knowledge to: analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems; correctly maintain time and attendance records; confers with Group Leader(s) and employees to coordinate activities of individual departments; ensure department inventory is accurate; and make daily decisions on production schedules and personnel related matters that affect the delivery and quality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Project Management and ISO procedures.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of business math skills as they apply to production and inventory.
  • Ability to understand a wide range of intellectual and practical problems by applying principles of logical or scientific thinking.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Microsoft Office Excel, and Word, Internet Communications, Measurement Systems and Analysis, Print interpretation, MRP/ERP Systems
