Job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SUPERVISOR, EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE - SILICON ASSEMBLY (STARLINK)

SpaceX is developing Starlink, a low-latency broadband constellation to deliver fast, reliable internet globally. Custom silicon packaging is critical to satellite performance and volume. We are seeking an Equipment Maintenance Supervisor to lead technician teams and drive reliability of advanced silicon packaging equipment as we scale production. This high-impact role offers the opportunity to build and develop high-performing maintenance teams while directly enabling Starlink’s mission to connect the unconnected.

Responsibilities
  • Lead shift teams of equipment maintenance technicians for 24/7 reliability of silicon assembly production equipment
  • Execute preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies targeting high availability and OEE
  • Drive rapid troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions on photolithography, die prep, grind/polish, AOI, reflow, die bonding, compression molding, curing ovens, tape mount, microsaw/die singulation, PVD, electrochemical plating, wet/dry etch, dry film, metrology, and RF test equipment
  • Coordinate with production, process engineering, and facilities to schedule maintenance with minimal output impact
  • Manage spare parts inventory, vendor coordination, and purchase requisitions on shift to minimize downtime
  • Support continuous improvement, TPM implementation, and factory scaling initiatives
  • Ensure safety protocols, LOTO, cleanroom standards, and regulatory compliance during all maintenance activities
  • Train and develop technicians; foster technical excellence, accountability, and urgency on the floor
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent technical certification; OR 3+ years of experience in industrial/machine maintenance in lieu of a degree
  • 2+ years of experience working in a high-volume manufacturing/operations environment
  • 1+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead position
  • Prior experience with semiconductor, solar, or advanced automation equipment maintenance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, electronics technology, or related STEM field
  • Hands-on maintenance experience with photolithography, die bonding, PVD/CVD, etch, molding, or metrology systems
  • Proficiency in CMMS, schematics (electrical/mechanical/pneumatic), PLC/VFD troubleshooting, and data-driven reliability
  • Experience with lean, TPM, Six Sigma, root-cause tools (8D/A3/Fishbone), and cleanroom protocols
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and scale maintenance in high-volume, fast-paced environments
  • Strong track record reducing downtime through supplier coordination and systematic problem solving
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work any shift, overtime, and weekends as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to work in industrial/cleanroom environments with noise, chemicals, fumes, and confined spaces
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts, hoists) as required
  • Must be available for one of the following AWS shifts (start and end times are approximate):
    • A-Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Sunday - Tuesday and every other Wednesday)
    • B-Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Thursday - Saturday and every other Wednesday)
