Job summary

MercyOne Clinton Medical Center in Clinton, IA is seeking a Supervisor of Environmental Services to lead daily housekeeping operations on the evening shift. You will provide effective leadership, scheduling, and performance guidance to a team of environmental services staff, ensuring safe, clean and compliant facilities.

This role emphasizes collaboration with the director to develop and enforce policies, train staff, monitor quality, and uphold Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in environmental services/housekeeping, including 1–2 years in a leadership/supervisory role; hospital setting preferred.
• Formalized training in environmental cleaning programs and safety methodology preferred.
• Knowledge of proper and safe chemical use and handling.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective leadership, guidance and supervision of the daily functions of Environmental Services.
• Schedule staff, monitor performance evaluations, and assist with training programs.
• Assist the Director with development and implementation of policies and procedures to facilitate safe and clean operations.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and state/federal regulations.

As a Supervisor of Environmental Services at MercyOne, you are are responsible providing effective leadership, guidance and supervision of the daily functions of Environmental Services. The Supervisor plans, assigns and monitors colleague work performance in order to achieve efficient and effective departmental operations. Assists the Director with development and implementation of policies and procedures that facilitate daily operations, safety and cleanliness and are in accordance with all applicable Mercy Medical Center policies and procedures, Joint Commission (TJC) standards, state and federal laws and regulations. Responsible for staff scheduling, performance evaluations, training programs and assists with the disciplinary process.

Schedule

• Full time 1.0 (40 hours per week)
• 2nd shift

General Requirements

• Formalized training in environmental cleaning programs and safety methodology preferred.
• Previous experience of 3-5 years in environmental services/housekeeping including 1-2 years in a leadership/supervisory role; hospital setting preferred.
• Knowledge of proper and safe chemical use and handling.
• Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
• Demonstrates general working knowledge of computers and department specific software helpful. (i.e. HealthStream, Word, Excel, Outlook; internet/intranet). Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job.

Education

• High-school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred.
