Job summary

Luminis Health in Annapolis, MD, seeks a Supervisor of Environmental Services to direct housekeeping operations, maintain sanitation, and ensure a safe, clean patient environment. You will manage daily assignments, supervise staff, and coordinate with management and HR on hiring and performance evaluations.

This role requires a high school diploma and at least two years in an environmental or service field; bilingual medical interpretation certification may apply.

  • Two years' experience performing work in an environmental or service related field.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the housekeeping services operation to maintain sanitation and appearance for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Establishes and distributes daily work assignments and schedules routine tasks and areas for cleaning.
  • Monitors staff activities and conducts continuous performance improvement and quality assurance.
  • Coordinates orientation and on-the-job training for new employees and ongoing training as required.
  • Prepares monthly supplies utilization and costs reports and coordinates linen inventories.
  • Performs daily quality assurance inspections and documents deficiencies with improvement plans.

Position Objective

The Supervisor of Environmental Services directs the housekeeping services operation, ensuring the hospital a high level of sanitation and appearance for patients, visitors, and staff, by maintaining a competent, efficient, and sufficiently supplied work force. This position has authority to perform supervisory duties including but not limited to hiring, evaluating performance, issuing final disciplinary actions under the review of Human Resources, and recommending discharge in collaboration with members of management and Human Resources

Essential Job Duties:

Establishes and distributes daily work assignments, scheduling routine tasks and special areas for cleaning. Monitors and inspects assigned areas to observe staff activities as part of the continuous performance improvement. Monitors/observe employees following EVS Standard work processes (Gemba). Continuous rounding/talking with patients to ensure quality patient satisfaction and cleanliness. Ensures compliance with department standards and safety regulations. Determines room vacancies and related scheduling of project cleaning needs. Ensures compliance with regulations, Joint Commission requirements, and departmental standards in the areas of health, safety, and sanitation. Coordinates and monitors the orientation and on-the-job training activities for new employees; conducts continuing training as required. Compiles monthly supplies utilization and supplies cost reports as assigned; distributes them for review as required. Coordinates linen inventories as assigned; makes sure units have adequate linen supplies. Performs daily quality assurance inspections in all areas of responsibility utilizing internal software EPIC and VeriClean and download results prior to end of shift. Submits a weekly report outlining areas of deficiencies and plans to improve quality.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate within one year of hire. Two years' experience performing work in an environmental or service related field.

Required License/Certifications:

If serving as a bilingual/multilingual interpreter, certification in Medical Interpretation is required to perform the duties of a qualified interpreter.

Pay Range

$21.10 - $31.64 USD
