PG&E is seeking a Supervisor-level leader to guide Transmission System Planning, overseeing short- and long-term planning in coordination with CAISO. You will direct interconnection studies for large-load customers, including data centers, and drive mitigations and upgrades to support rising transmission demand.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in transmission plans development.
  • Travel approximately 15% with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Provides team leadership, technical oversight and tracking for Large Load Interconnection by reviewing outputs and staying current on system areas.
  • Directs development of technical and process oversight for large-load interconnection studies, including data centers, industrial facilities, electrification projects and other customers with significant transmission-load requirements.
  • Leads identification and evaluation of mitigations and interconnection options to reliably accommodate large-load growth; coordinates review of upgrades, solutions, dependencies and risks.
  • Represents transmission issues to external stakeholders.
  • Keeps upper management updated on grid/asset planning processes.
  • Keeps abreast of applicable requirements, standards, tariffs and system models.
  • Coordinates with Substation and T-Line Engineering, Protection Engineering, and Energy Generation Interconnection on project developments.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with CAISO, WECC, municipal utilities, generators, and others.
  • Supervises employees to achieve results through training, development, coaching and rewards.

Position Summary

Transmission System Planning Leadership is responsible for all functions supporting the short- and long-term planning of PG&E's transmission system. Leadership oversees, and is responsible for, assessment, including annual planning in conjunction with California Independent System Operator (CAISO) procedures and standards; regional planning, including the production of system base cases used for analysis in the internal assessment process as well as in external forums; and interconnection, including studies for generation and load interconnects to the transmission system.

This position provides leadership and technical oversight for complex large-load interconnection studies, including data centers and other high-demand customers, and supports the evaluation of transmission system impacts, required mitigations, and infrastructure needs associated with significant load growth.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $155,000

Bay Area Maximum: $265,000

California Minimum: $147,000

California Maximum: $252,000

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides team leadership, technical oversight and tracking for Large Load Interconnection by reviewing team outputs and maintaining current knowledge of the system areas.
  • Directs and oversees the development of applicable technical and process oversight for large-load interconnection studies, including data centers, industrial facilities, electrification projects, and other customers with significant transmission-level load requirements.
  • Leads the identification and evaluation of transmission mitigations and interconnection alternatives needed to reliably accommodate large-load growth. Coordinates the technical review of network upgrades, operating solutions, project dependencies, implementation risks, and potential impacts
  • Provides representation on transmission issues for external stakeholders
  • Keeps upper management up to date on a regular basis regarding transmission grid/asset planning processes.
  • Stays abreast of applicable requirements, standards, tariffs and system models.
  • Coordinates with internal groups such Substation and T-Line Engineering, Protection Engineering, and Energy Generation Interconnection on project developments and interconnection issues.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with counterparts at the following external organizations: California Independent System Operator (CAISO), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), municipal utilities, generators, neighboring utilities, and others as required.
  • Supervise employees to accomplish results through effective, training & development, coaching, and rewards and recognition.
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in transmission plans development, 5 years
  • Travel approximately 15% with occasional overnight stays.

Desired:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering-Electrical-Power Systems or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • PE-Professional Engineer license
  • Proficient in written and oral communication skills.
  • Leadership and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal, influence, and collaboration skills.
  • Electrical Engineering knowledge with a focus on Power Systems
  • Familiarity with GE's PSLF tool or similar load flow computer models
