Job summary

Nordson Corporation is seeking a Logistics Supervisor in South Carolina. You will lead staff across receiving, inspection, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping while planning distribution with available workforce, hours, and material.

You will train and guide team members, monitor safety, and ensure quality metrics daily. Responsibilities include workforce planning, cross-training, enforcing rules, and reporting needs to Operations, Planning, Purchasing, Engineering and Maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Prior Supervisory experience required.
  • Two years' experience in a logistics environment is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff responsible for receiving, inspection, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Plan and manage distribution activities to assure timely processing and quality standards are achieved daily.
  • Organize and assign work considering current workforce levels; instruct and assist employees in performance.
  • Maintain and develop a skilled workforce with planning requirements and cross training.
  • Participate in company programs such as training, schedules, and evaluations.
  • Gather information and report business needs to Operations, Planning, Purchasing, Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Enforce safety devices, supervise housekeeping, and maintain safe conditions.
  • Maintain conformance with work rules; issue warnings and administer disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Establish or modify operational methods and procedures; reflect effectiveness in documentation.
  • Interact with supervisors and peers; present project/schedule updates and review Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity, Cost metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Plan and manage distribution activities through the utilization of workforce skills, hours, material, and workflow to assure timely processing and quality standards are achieved each day.
  • Organize and assign work considering the current workforce levels; instruct, guide, and assist employees in the performance of their work.
  • Maintain and develop an adequately skilled work force consistent with planning requirements and work levels, including cross training.
  • Participate in company programs, such as communications, job training, vacation schedules, and job evaluation.
  • Ability to gather information and report about business needs proactively to Operations, Planning/Scheduling, Purchasing, Engineering, and Maintenance, etc.
  • Manage and enforce the use of safety devices and equipment, supervise departmental housekeeping, and maintain constant alert for unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain conformance with company work rules and regulations, issue warnings for violations and administer approved disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Establishes and modifies operational methods and procedures.
  • Maintains documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities.
  • Frequently interacts with other supervisors and functional peer groups at various levels. Education And Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Prior Supervisory experience required.
  • Two years' experience in a logistics environment is required.
  • Machining, Planning, Engineering, or Quality background is also a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise with a warehouse, distribution, freight, or logistics background.

  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with SAP, Kronos, and/or Workday a plus.
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive.
  • Above average communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level.
