Job summary

Georgia Transmission seeks a Supervisor to oversee Construction Inspectors and lead field supervision for capital projects statewide. You will provide leadership for the CI team and support department management with resource planning and performance evaluations.

The role includes developing training for inspectors, coordinating with capital project teams, and serving as a subject matter expert on construction scope and project coordination. A driving role with up to 85% travel is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electric utility construction experience with increasing responsibilities.
• 15+ years of experience in substation or transmission line construction with leadership.
• Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license and required safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Construction Inspectors and direct field supervision for CI Department on capital projects.
• Lead day-to-day resource planning, performance evaluations and compensation recommendations.
• Perform conflict resolution with associates when needed and support training programs.
• Assist in scope development and project coordination as SME for construction.
• Travel up to 85%; GTC-owned vehicle will be assigned.

Job description

2 Openings: Substation (Statewide) or Transmission Line (Statewide)

Oversees Construction Inspectors and helps manage Construction Inspection for GTC capital projects. Provides leadership and direct field supervision for Construction Inspectors, as well as administrative support for CI Department Management. The Supervisor aids in the day-to-day resource planning for active construction as well as performing performance evaluations and making compensation recommendations for Associates. The Supervisor will intervene and provide conflict resolution with Associates whenever necessary. This position provides support for the individual training and professional development for Construction Inspectors in the Department. This position also works with capital project team members as a subject matter expert in construction, aiding in scope development and project coordination. The percent of travel involved is 85% but a GTC-owned vehicle will be assigned to this position.

Required Qualifications

• Education: BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
• Experience: Ten Years (10+) years of experience in electric utility construction (substation or transmission line construction preferred) involving transmission-level voltages with increasing responsibilities and a history of strong leadership skills.
• Equivalent Experience: Fifteen (15+) years of experience in substation or transmission line construction involving transmission-level voltages with increasing responsibilities and a history of strong leadership skills.
• Licenses, and/or Certificates: Valid Georgia Driver's License, ITS Substation Access and transmission line ROW access, CPR/Standard First Aid Certification, OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training, Defensive Driving 6-Hour Class, NPDES Level 1A Qualified Person Training.
• Specialized Skills (e.g. typing, computer, software, tools, and equipment use, etc.): Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. The ability to develop relationships and manage multiple tasks and assignments is critical to the success of this position. Must be knowledgeable of contracting and construction management practices, including inspection, quality control, OSHA safety requirements, and project control measures.
• Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
