Job summary

Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is seeking a Team Supervisor - Special Projects to lead contracts beyond traditional family peer support. This home-based role supervises staff and ensures contract deliverables align with funder expectations.

You will collaborate with Grants & Community Partnerships, provide regular supervision to Family Peer Support Specialists, and support hiring, onboarding, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Lived experience as a primary caregiver of a youth or young adult with a behavioral health disorder.
• Bachelor's degree in a human services field preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience in the human services field.
• Strong organizational, written, and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and resolve conflict.
• Ability to travel statewide; valid Maryland driver’s license and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contracts that expand beyond traditional family peer support and ensure funder requirements are met.
• Provide programmatic supervision to Family Peer Support Specialists with regular supervision and reviews.
• Partner with HR and Program Manager to hire and onboard new employees; support orientation for new FPSS staff.
• Lead annual performance appraisals in partnership with the Program Manager and HR.
• Monitor contract deliverables using data and develop corrective action plans as needed.

MCF provides equipment, mileage reimbursement and paid training.

Who We Are Founded in 1999, Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is a statewide nonprofit with a central office in Columbia, Md., and staff located in communities throughout the state. Using personal experience as parents, caregivers, youth, and other loved ones, we connect, support, and empower Maryland's families. Our staff provide one-to-one support to parents and caregivers of loved ones with behavioral health challenges. We also advocate to improve systems that impact individuals with behavioral health challenges.

The Team Supervisor - Special Projects, is responsible for the oversight, supervision and execution of specific scopes of work that differ from traditional family peer support services. This position supervises staff allocated to the contract and ensures that contract requirements are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the execution of contracts that expand beyond traditional family peer support including but not limited to services to military families, system of care grants, and grants that receive Federal funding.
• Collaborate with the Manager for Grants & Community Partnerships to ensure data is collected, monitored, analyzed, and reported accurately to funders.
• Stay abreast of the unique requirements for each contract under management.
• Represent MCF in person or virtually on committees, workgroups, funder meetings or other venues intended to foster collaboration with community partners.
• Provide programmatic supervision to Family Peer Support Specialists to include regular and consistent individual supervision, ongoing family and record reviews, and observation and support for family and community activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality family peer support services.
• Conduct regular and consistent peer consultation group.
• Partner with Human Resources and Program Manager to hire and onboard new employees. Provide support to ensure thorough orientation is conducted and completed for new FPSS staff.
• Lead annual performance appraisals of direct report staff in partnership with the Program Manager and Human Resources.
• Responsible for personnel management, including identifying coaching opportunities and writing and delivering documented conversations, corrective action and performance improvement plans for Family Peer Support Specialists with support from the Program Manager and Human Resources
• In collaboration with the Program Manager, ensure contract deliverables are met by promoting an organizational culture that empowers staff members to achieve outcomes, using data to monitor contract deliverables and developing plans for corrective action as needed.
• Coordinate with Program Managers in specific subject matters (i.e., Substance Use, etc.) to ensure Family Peer Support Specialists receive appropriate training, oversight, and guidance to provide high quality services.
• Assist in identifying and disseminating information about resources for families and youth.
• Assist with communication of real-life experience of families served to others in MCF to support program and policy development.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Lived experience as a primary caregiver of a youth or young adult with a behavioral health disorder is required.
• Bachelor's degree required - preferably in a human services field.
• Prior supervisory experience in the human services field is required.
• Strong organizational, written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be detail-oriented.
• Ability to identify and resolve conflict.
• Ability to work with diverse staff in a strengths-based way
• Ability to interpret and use data to drive decision making.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve established outcomes.
• Effectively utilize technology, including databases, and possess a working knowledge of standard computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Ability to travel throughout the state and within the region regularly. Must possess current Maryland driver's license and insurance, and have access to own vehicle.
• Successful completion of a background check is required for all MCF employees.

Hours and Compensation

• Full-Time 40 hours/week
