Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. Persons in this role hire and train staff, plan and assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor oversees receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality and to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
  • Effectively inform senior management and client representatives of critical issues affecting operations.
  • Develop and manage systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations; manage operations to meet productivity and service goals; comply with client agreements.
  • Implement and report on cost-saving measures and contribute ideas for more efficient operations.
  • Meet client-specified KPIs and comply with Quality system requirements.
  • Manage operations to achieve objectives; supervise, counsel, and, where needed, discipline team members; support Human Resources; assist in hiring, training and professional development; participate in performance evaluation processes.
  • Oversee training and evaluation of warehouse staff.
  • Plan daily work schedules by reviewing work orders and customer instructions; assign duties to warehouse staff.
  • Analyze pending jobs and trends to inform warehouse space reorganization and resource planning.
  • Train new staff or delegate training; assess progress of trainees and adjust duties as appropriate.
  • Monitor workload quantity and quality; provide guidance as necessary.
  • Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members; monitor progress and issues.
  • Provide daily progress updates to the Manager; hold regular meetings with staff and discuss improvements.
  • Assist in physical operations as needed.
  • Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time; maintain high motivation to provide top customer satisfaction.
  • Support ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members; participate in annual performance reviews.
  • Support adherence to SOPs and train team members in SOPs (corporate and client).
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years’ experience in logistics/distribution or a relevant environment
  • 1 year experience in a supervisory role
  • Preferred: prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
  • Satisfactory completion of forklift training program
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • RF Scanners
  • WMS functions
Language Skills
  • English (reading, writing, verbal) and business communication
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic to intermediate level for quantities, counting inventory, and related duties

Compensation & Benefits

For this position, the expected base pay range is $60,000 – $70,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location, in accordance with laws and policy.
