Summary
  • Provide first line supervision for Food Service Associates and oversee daily operations of the food service department. This position provides a link to the support for leadership and direction for the Food and Nutrition Department
Responsibilities
  • 1. Oversees meal service a. Conforms to all hospital policies and procedures regarding scheduling of Associates, coaching and counseling, training and any other personnel issues. Keeps all documentation relating to these areas accurate and up to date. b. Arranges for alternates to the posted schedule when Associates call out or the department has necessary changes to the schedule c. Helps in the evaluation and counseling of At Your Request, Fresh Inspirations, Snack Bar Well Bean and Production. Associates. Helps in the completion of paperwork for hires and terminations. d. Monitors the completion of HACCP taste and temperature panel for At Your Request, Fresh Inspirations, Snack Bar Well Bean and Production. e. Ensures the new Associates are trained and their performance evaluated and communicated to the scheduler. Communicates and enforces new procedures to Associates. f. Acts as liaison between Associates and managers. g. Responsible to see that evening special functions are delivered h. Responsible to see that floor stocks are prepared, dated and recorded in the Meditech system in a timely and accurate manner. i. Verifies the cafeteria deposits by the cashier, completes proper paperwork and secures the cash as per procedure. May need to open cash drawers for cashiers and complete end of shift readings. j. Responsible for the closing of the department, making sure that Associates are checked out with all tasks completed and cleaning list documented. k. Able to assemble a patient meal tray according to prescribed diet order. 2. Sanitation a. Gathers data for quality control monitors as assigned i.e. sanitation check list. b. Responsible for the directing and monitoring of daily cleaning and extra cleaning in the department. c. Monitors the record keeping of food temperatures and assures temperature recording equipment is sanitized & calibrated. Reports all discrepancies to management. d. Assures that dishwasher and other equipment are in working order and completes maintenance requests as needed. e. Assures that Associates are trained in floor care and that floors are cleaned as per protocol. f. Test and documents that sanitizer is mixed at the correct proportions. Makes sure that the sanitizer is being correctly used. g. Ensure that all staff is using correct HACCP guidelines. h. Supports waste log policy. 3. Functions in the capacity of Associates for relief of position a. Completes other assignments deemed necessary for the optimum functions of the department. b. Fills in (as needed), as cashier or other position in other areas of the department. 4. Hospital Policies a. Conforms to all hospital policies and procedures regarding scheduling of Associates, coaching and counseling, training and other personnel issues. 5. Maintains a SERVICE attitude: a. Ensures customer satisfaction through phone conversations, nursing contact and fellow Associate interactions. b. Functions in any capacity as an Associate in case of extraordinary circumstances. c. Performs other job description as determined by management for example-cafeteria worker if qualified to perform the tasks within the description. d. Demonstrates customer service by answering telephone within 3 rings, answers with the appropriate greeting, identifies oneself to the caller. e. Attends mandatory meetings and regularly scheduled in-services. f. Completes the RAHE in-services annually. g. Is courteous and tactful to fellow Associates and to all customers. h. Maintains confidentiality at all times. i. Provides customers with high quality selections, demonstrating good customer service skills. j. Works collaboratively with others in the accomplishment of departmental and hospital goals and shares information appropriately and in a timely manner. 6. Safety Training and Compliance: a. Completes and ensures that all Food & Nutrition Associated complete all of the required annual safety training b. Demonstrates compliance with safety program in daily operations thru use of: cut glove, c. Spill clean-up, body mechanics, etc. d. Participates in Department Safety Committee activities.
