Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited is seeking a Supervising Electrical Engineer for its New York team. In this senior role, you will serve as Engineer of Record, mentor engineers, and shape the technical direction while leading delivery of complex, mission-critical projects.

You will oversee design standards, budgets, and staffing, while coordinating with clients and contractors. This role demands deep MEP expertise, CAD/Revit proficiency, and a strong track record with healthcare and data

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • PE licensure required.
  • 12+ years of experience in a consulting firm at a senior level.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on design and CAD/Revit experience.
  • Healthcare design experience.
  • Experience with Critical Facilities, Commercial, and Aviation projects is a strong plus.
  • Mission Critical, Science & Technology, and Project Management experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Engineer of Record on dedicated critical facilities and data center projects.
  • Supervise coordination meetings and lead staff.
  • Coordinate project assignments for the engineering team.
  • Establish design standards, specifications, and criteria.
  • Provide periodic employee evaluations.
  • Support Technical Manager and Chief Engineer with training and mentoring.
  • Oversee construction administration including RFIs, Bulletins, and Addenda.
  • Coordinate with accounting to prepare invoices and monitor receivables.
  • Monitor communications between staff, clients, contractors, and owners.
  • Contribute to firmwide Expert Teams and budgeting/scheduling.
  • Prepare proposals and administer project contracts, including Add Service Agreements.
  • Oversee analysis and reports on system options and building conditions.

This company is seeking a Supervising Electrical Engineer to join its New York team. This senior leadership role involves serving as Engineer of Record, mentoring engineers, and helping shape the technical direction of the practice while leading the delivery of complex, mission-critical projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Acting as Engineer of Record on dedicated critical facilities and data center projects
  • Supervising and leading coordination meetings
  • Leading and supervising staff members as they perform their tasks
  • Coordinating and assigning projects to be performed by the engineering team
  • Establishing design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects
  • Providing periodic, objective, and comprehensive employee evaluations
  • Assisting the Technical Manager and Chief Engineer with business unit technical training and staff mentoring
  • Managing construction administration duties including field reports, RFI responses, and processing Bulletins and Addenda
  • Coordinating with accounting to prepare monthly project invoices and monitor accounts receivableMonitoring all correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, and owners
  • Participating in and contributing to the firmwide Expert Teams committee
  • Participating in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management
  • Preparing proposals and administering project contracts, including Add Service Agreements
  • Supervising the preparation of analysis and reports on system options and building conditions
Skills/Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • PE licensure required
  • 12+ years of experience working in a consulting firm, senior level role requiring a background in the MEP engineering industry
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Hands-on design and CAD/Revit experience required, this is a strong technical role
  • Healthcare design experience required
  • Experience with Critical Facilities, Commercial, and Aviation projects a strong plus
  • Mission Critical, Science & Technology, and Project Management experience a plus
