Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Supervising Engineer in Charlotte, NC, to lead a team supporting nuclear power plant modifications. The role involves developing engineering modification packages, overseeing budgets, and providing technical leadership across multiple sites in the Carolinas.

The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in electrical systems design for power plants and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance and a 401(k) plan.

Job description

What is the Opportunity?

At Aecon Engineering Services Inc. (United), we design and build today’s infrastructure for tomorrow. We are seeking an Electrical Supervising Engineer with experience supporting Nuclear Power Plant modifications. The successful candidate will lead a team of Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls engineers and designers, providing on‑site support across multiple nuclear plants in North and South Carolina. Duties include developing engineering modification packages, managing scope, schedule, budget, and approving design documents.

What You'll Do Here:
  • Develop engineering change and plant modification packages.
  • Create equipment specifications, data sheets, calculations, and analysis to support the design and configuration control process.
  • Specify equipment such as transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and UPS/DC.
  • Perform electrical studies, including short circuit, voltage drop, coordination, and arc flash using OTI‑ETAP software.
  • Prepare electrical design documents: single‑line diagrams, panel schedules, schematics, wiring diagrams, physical and raceway drawings, lighting and grounding plans, cable schedules.
  • Oversee proposals, schedules, and budgets; monitor and report budget and schedule performance.
  • Provide technical leadership to engineers and designers in electrical and I&C disciplines.
  • Lead and support electrical engineering, I&C, and design activities on the project.
  • Coordinate activities with clients, contractors, vendors, and other project team members.
What You Bring To The Team:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Nuclear Operating Plants.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in any U.S. state, with ability to obtain licensure in other states by comity.
  • 8+ years of experience designing electrical systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with plant design processes and preparation of engineering drawings (e.g., wiring diagrams, schematics).
  • Knowledge of IEEE, EPRI, and industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to interface with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams).
  • Ability to obtain unrestricted access to a nuclear power plant.
Citizenship Requirements

This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. Applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.
