Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Structural Superintendent to oversee civil construction on infrastructure and water projects. The role requires a proven leader with extensive civil engineering, project management, and team coordination experience to ensure work is safe, on time, and within budget while upholding high quality standards.

The District focuses on heavy civil projects across Southern California, with relocation assistance and per diem offered.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction experience with 3+ years in a Superintendent/leadership capacity.
  • Associated or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction disciplines, union agreements, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, drawings and documents.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate all civil activities on assigned projects.
  • Supervise and mentor civil crews, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure all mechanical work meets project specs, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and policies.
  • Monitor and control project costs; approve monthly job cost updates.
  • Identify and resolve mechanical issues arising during the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain relationships with clients and provide regular project updates.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports and change orders.
  • Assist in planning labor, material quantities, and equipment needs.
  • Manage contract administration (subcontracts/field management).
  • Mentor and help grow fellow staff through evaluations.

Position Overview

The Structural Superintendent will oversee and manage all structural construction activities on our infrastructure and water projects. This role requires a strong leader with extensive experience in civil engineering, project management, and team coordination. The ideal candidate will ensure that all civil work is completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and control project costs, ensuring efficient use of resources and materials, and approve monthly job cost updates.
  • Identify and resolve any mechanical issues or challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing any concerns and providing regular project updates.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, schedules, and change orders.
  • Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements
  • Manage contract administration (subcontractor/field management)
  • Mentor and help to grow fellow Kiewit staff through performance evaluations
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of construction experience with 3+ years in a Superintendent/leadership capacity
  • Associated or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures and software programs.
  • Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience in Leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
  • Ability to access all areas on a construction project site

  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

Base Compensation:$125,000/yr -$135,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
