Job summary

South32 Group Operations Pty. Ltd. seeks a Superintendent, Processing Plant Construction for the Taylor Concentrator project near Patagonia, Arizona.

You will lead concentrator construction activities, oversee contractors, and ensure safety, schedule, cost, quality and performance objectives are met. Based at the Hermosa Project site, you will coordinate with engineering, project controls, site services, procurement and other stakeholders, drive continuous improvement, and support the transition

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline.
• 7-10 years of experience leading large-scale mining construction projects, including concentrator or processing plant facilities.
• Experience managing contractors, union and non-union craft labor, project logistics, and vendor contracts.
• Strong knowledge of construction management, project controls, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven commitment to safety leadership, environmental stewardship, and fostering a high-performance safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all concentrator construction activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives, schedules, and budgets.
• Manage construction contractors and field teams, driving performance, productivity, accountability, and adherence to South32 standards and expectations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, community, quality, and regulatory requirements, promoting a strong culture of safety and operational excellence.
• Coordinate construction execution with engineering, project controls, site services, procurement, and other stakeholders to support successful project delivery and resolve issues proactively.
• Monitor and control project schedules, costs, risks, and change management processes, implementing recovery plans and corrective actions as needed to maintain project performance.
• Champion digital project delivery, continuous improvement, and workforce development, leveraging technology, supporting quality initiatives, and providing leadership, coaching, and performance management for direct reports.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Superintendent, Processing Plant Construction, you will provide leadership and oversight for construction activities associated with the Taylor Concentrator, including process facilities, the tailings filtration plant, and paste backfill plant. This role will lead skilled, technical, and professional teams and work closely with contractors and key project stakeholders to ensure construction is deliveredsafely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedule, cost, quality, and performance objectives. You will also play a key role in supporting the successful transition from construction through commissioning. This position is based at the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Lead and oversee all concentrator construction activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives, schedules, and budgets.
• Manage construction contractors and field teams, driving performance, productivity, accountability, and adherence to South32 standards and expectations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, community, quality, and regulatory requirements, promoting a strong culture of safety and operational excellence.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, trade qualifications, and experience.
• 7-10 years of experience leading large-scale mining construction projects, including concentrator or processing plant facilities.
• Demonstrated success managing contractors, union and non-union craft labor, project logistics, and vendor contracts.
• Strong knowledge of construction management, project controls, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven commitment to safety leadership, environmental stewardship, and fostering a high-performance safety culture.
• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse and cross-cultural environments.
