Job summary

The Arlington Heights Park District seeks a hands-on Superintendent of Accounting to lead the Finance Office, oversee cash flow, bank transfers, and asset tracking. You will drive reconciliations, tax distributions, and support internal and external audits while reporting to the Deputy Director.

Ideal candidates hold a BA/BS in accounting or related field, 3–5 years in a supervisory accounting role, and CPA/CPRP or equivalent credentials; government experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or closely related field.
• 3–5 years of demonstrated success as a Business Manager or Accounting Supervisor.
• Prior government agency experience is preferred or any equivalent education/experience/training.
• CPRP certification within one year of eligibility and maintained during employment.
• CPR and AED certification within six months of employment.
• Valid Illinois Class “D” Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily Finance Office workflow for park district finances and records.
• Process bank transfers to meet expenses and investment needs; maintain subsidiary records.
• Prepare and file sales tax and related investigations by monthly deadline.
• Track fixed assets and prepare information for appraisal and audits.
• Reconcile bank accounts monthly and verify with general ledger; adjust preliminary trial balance.
• Prepare property tax deposits and distributions; assist with internal audits and annual external audit.

Working closely alongside the Deputy Director, you will co-pilot internal audits, coordinate the annual external audit, administer the District's P-Card program, and present regular investment and cash summary reports to the Board of Commissioners. JOB SPECIFIC INFORMATION:

• Provides supervision of daily Finance Office workflow essential to the preparation and maintenance of Park District finances and records

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business or closely related field from an accredited college or university
• Minimum three to five years of demonstrated success as a Business Manager or Accounting Supervisor
• Prior experience in a government agency is preferred orany equivalent combination of education, experience and training
• Obtain CPRP certification within one year of eligibility
• Maintain CPRP certification during employment
• Valid Illinois Class “D” Driver’s License
• CPR and AED Certification required within six (6) months of employment
