Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti North America Inc. seeks a Superintendent, Mine Maintenance to lead maintenance and reliability for open-pit Nevada operations. You will guide strategy, budgeting, planning, and contractor oversight to maximize equipment availability and align with production goals.

You will mentor the maintenance team, drive RCA-based improvements, and ensure MSHA safety and regulatory compliance while partnering with operations and OEM vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or equivalent maintenance leadership experience.
• CMRP or similar designation is an asset.
• 5–7 years in maintenance within open-pit mining or heavy industry, with 3–5 years in leadership.
• Experience leading mobile equipment maintenance through startup and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of RCA, RC M principles, and predictive maintenance.

The Superintendent, Mine Maintenance is responsible for leading maintenance and reliability activities for mobile and support equipment in an open-pit mining operation across Nevada Projects. This role oversees maintenance strategy, workforce leadership, contractor oversight, budgeting, and MSHA compliance to optimize asset performance, maximize equipment availability, and support the mine's operational and business objectives.

As a key operational leadership team member reporting to the Manager, Mine Maintenance, the Superintendent provides technical guidance and leadership during construction, commissioning, and the transition into full commercial operations, partnering closely with Mine Operations, Supply Chain, and OEM vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure strict compliance with MSHA standards, site safety guidelines, and environmental requirements during operational readiness, commissioning, and routine maintenance execution.
• Lead and provide guidance with incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation across the maintenance team.

Maintenance Execution & Fleet Optimization

• Direct the execution of planned maintenance activities for the haul truck and support equipment fleets in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
• Establish and oversee effective work management processes—including work identification, planning, scheduling, execution, and history recording - prior to commissioning.
• Provide technical guidance concerning maintenance work methods and troubleshooting to the operational workforce.

Reliability & Lifecycle Management

• Monitor and drive continuous improvement in equipment performance, fleet availability, and lifecycle operating costs.
• Analyze equipment failure trends, root cause data, and reliability metrics to implement preventative and corrective action plans.
• Apply Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles, predictive maintenance technologies, and asset refurbishment strategies to optimize equipment performance.

Budgeting, Cost Control & KPI Management

• Develop and manage operational and sustaining capital budgets for mine maintenance.
• Exercise strict control over maintenance expenditures while preserving operational efficiency and equipment uptime.
• Establish and manage controls necessary to track and report maintenance and reliability KPIs according to AngloGold Ashanti standards.

Supply Chain & Vendor Collaboration

• Coordinate with Supply Chain, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and non-OEM suppliers to ensure timely availability of parts, components, and specialized services.
• Oversee contractor performance, warranty programs, and external technical service providers.

Leadership & Operational Readiness

• Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the maintenance and reliability team throughout construction, commissioning, and ongoing production.
• Deliver regular reporting to leadership regarding maintenance readiness, operational risks, costs, schedules, and fleet performance metrics.
• Foster a positive team environment, manage group dynamics, and mentor personnel in technical and operational best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related discipline preferred (or equivalent practical maintenance leadership experience).
• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent designation preferred.
• Minimum 5 to 7 years of progressive maintenance experience within open-pit mining or heavy industrial environments, with at least 3 to 5 years in leadership or supervisory roles.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing mobile equipment maintenance teams through construction, commissioning, and mine startup phases.
• Applied knowledge of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles, predictive maintenance technologies, and CMMS workflows (e.g., SAP PM).
• Strong background in work management processes, failure trend analysis, and root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.
• Demonstrated track record in budget development, cost control, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous operational improvement.
• Cultural and community awareness relevant to mine development and operations, aligned with AngloGold Ashanti values.
• Self-motivated leader with the ability to act autonomously within agreed policy boundaries, build collaborative relationships, and mentor team members.
• Valid driver's license required with the ability to operate company vehicles safely.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
