Job summary

Bechtel Global Corporation is seeking a Superintendent (Drilled Piers) in Clay, NY to supervise craft operations related to drilled piers/piling. You will oversee subcontractors, ensure work aligns with specifications, and manage cost, schedule and labor optimization for a major semiconductor fab project.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering or related field with extensive civil construction supervision experience, strong ES&H commitment, and excellent communication and leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related technical field with 8–10 years of site supervision experience (12–14 years if no degree).
• Experience in civil construction on large projects and knowledge of drilled shafts.
• Strong ES&H commitment with ability to manage schedules, budgets and safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct craft activities across assigned disciplines.
• Plan and schedule work, reviewing progress by each craft.
• Interpret Engineering design and vendor documents for field use.
• Assist in development of construction methods and drawings.
• Forecast workforce, material and equipment needs.

Project Overview

Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. Job Summary

The Superintendent (Drilled Piers) is responsible for supervising and directing craft operations within assigned disciplines or areas. They will supervise and direct Craft activities related to all aspects of drilled piers/ piling operations, and others, as assigned. They will ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance is in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budget. They will perform general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions. #LI-SP1

Major Responsibilities

• Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
• Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
• Works with construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
• Participates in the development of planning construction methods and in the preparation of construction drawings and sketches.
• Develops projections and schedules for workforce, material and equipment requirements
• Interface with Labor/Industrial Relations for craft recruitment and training programs.
• Approve workforce job requirements and review work accomplished by each craft.
• Review craft time records using established automated tools.
• Coordinate with the General Foreman to hire appropriate craft labor to execute work.
• Coordinate with other discipline superintendents with established area construction work activities and plans.
• Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
• Monitors installation of materials and equipment in conformance with drawings, specifications vendor, and other requirements
• Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
• Provide input to Field Engineering for quantity tracking application.
• Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
• Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
• Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
• Responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labor and maintaining the three week look-ahead schedule for labor and equipment.
• Inspect area for unsafe conditions, behaviors and practices and take appropriate corrective action to mitigate and eliminate.
• Ensure that Bechtel Core processes and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
• Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
• Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.

Education and Experience Requirements

• • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience, or 12-14 years relevant experience in the absence of a degree.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Technical knowledge of drilled shafts on infrastructure projects, and general construction work
• Experience in civil construction on large projects.
• Knowledge of construction technologies.
• Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
• Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
• Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
• Understanding of production management including scheduling.
• Previous supervisory experience within civil discipline.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
