Job summary

Gilbane Building Company seeks a Superintendent - Data Center to independently supervise a data center project with a work value up to $30M. The role is on-site daily and drives safety, schedule, and quality across trade contractors and field teams.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Engineering or Construction Management, 4–8 years in superintendent roles on large commercial/industrial builds, and OSHA 30/STC certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 4-8 years of experience on $15-$30 million or larger commercial/industrial construction projects in a superintendent role.
• Prior experience with field construction responsibilities on hyperscale data center projects is desired.
• OSHA 30-hour certified.
• STS-C Certification.
• First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day coordination of trade partners and sub-contractors to meet the project schedule.
• Develops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding changes in the field.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents to proactively anticipate problems.
• Leads contractor meetings and maintains daily reports and documentation.
• Creates, manages, and updates the project schedule with contingency plans when necessary.
• Oversees project safety and quality plans and ensures on-site compliance.

This position will be on the job site every day and will fill a key role on the project team.

Responsibilities

• Directs the day‑to‑day coordination of Gilbane's trade partners and their sub‑contractors to ensure high‑quality work that meets the approved project schedule
• Develops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the field
• Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents in order to proactively anticipate potential problems
• Participates in constructability review and identifies change impacts
• Obtains or verifies that subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes
• Acts as primary safety representative in the field
• Establishes credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions, and other project partners by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
• Leads contractor meetings on a regular basis
• Maintains daily reports and documentation using software tools
• Creates, manages, and updates the project schedule, creating and implementing contingency plans when necessary
• Communicates schedule status, updates and changes to project team and trade contractors
• Plans, coordinates, and manages jobsite logistics
• Oversees project quality plan, completes inspections, and implements necessary changes
• Communicates with Site Services/Next 150 to order materials and schedule crew
• Coaches and mentors less Field Engineers on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumen
• Understands scopes of work; assists in writing scopes of work and participates in buyout
• Assists in Time and Materials (T&M) tracking
• Leads stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre‑task plan reviews
• Supports a positive and inclusive work environment
• May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions

Qualifications

Experience and Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
• 4-8 years of experience on $15-$30 million or larger commercial/industrial construction projects in a superintendent role
• Prior experience with field construction responsibilities on hyperscale data center projects is desired

• Ability to create an environment where safety first is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude
• Understanding of general requirements financial forecasting

Benefits & Compensation

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

The pay ranges from $83,200–$120,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
