Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in construction supervision, preferably within low-voltage, structured cabling, telecommunications, electrical, or data center construction.
  • Experience leading field crews on large-scale commercial or hyperscale data center projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing manpower, production, quality, safety, and daily field operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily field leadership and supervision for low-voltage cabling installations on hyperscale data center projects.
  • Plan and coordinate daily and weekly field activities to maintain project schedules and production goals.
  • Supervise field personnel, foremen, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Coordinate installation activities with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, other trades, and client representatives.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, layouts, and installation requirements to ensure field execution aligns with the project documents.
  • Monitor manpower, productivity, material availability, and installation progress.
  • Identify potential schedule impacts, field conflicts, and resource constraints and communicate them to the Project Manager.
  • Conduct daily coordination meetings, toolbox talks, and production planning meetings as required.

Job description

The Superintendent at MWS plays a critical role in the successful execution of low-voltage cabling projects within hyperscale data centers. This individual is responsible for providing day-to-day field leadership, coordinating crews and subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

The Superintendent will work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, clients, general contractors, and field teams to ensure successful installation and turnover of structured cabling and low-voltage systems. This role requires a strong understanding of data center construction, field operations, manpower planning, and the coordination of complex work within active construction environments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide daily field leadership and supervision for low-voltage cabling installations on hyperscale data center projects.
  • Plan and coordinate daily and weekly field activities to maintain project schedules and production goals.
  • Supervise MWS field personnel, foremen, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Coordinate installation activities with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, other trades, and client representatives.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, layouts, and installation requirements to ensure field execution aligns with the project documents.
  • Monitor manpower, productivity, material availability, and installation progress.
  • Identify potential schedule impacts, field conflicts, and resource constraints and communicate them to the Project Manager.
  • Conduct daily coordination meetings, toolbox talks, and production planning meetings as required.
  • Ensure work is installed in accordance with MWS standards, project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements.
  • Monitor quality of installation and ensure deficiencies are identified, documented, and corrected.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, staging, equipment, and site logistics with project leadership.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower reports, production tracking, and other required project documentation.
  • Assist with project scheduling, look-ahead planning, and recovery plans when necessary.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, labeling, documentation, and turnover activities.
  • Work closely with Project Management and Preconstruction teams to identify constructability issues and field conditions that may impact execution.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and final turnover of low-voltage systems.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure field personnel follow MWS, GC, and client safety requirements.
  • Participate in site walks, quality inspections, coordination meetings, and client/GC meetings.
  • Develop strong working relationships with field teams, clients, general contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Lead by example and establish expectations for professionalism, accountability, safety, quality, and productivity.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong field leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and installation details.
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage cabling and structured cabling installation.
  • Experience working in large-scale data center construction environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating multiple crews and trades within fast-paced construction environments.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining schedule and production objectives.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify field issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Proficiency with construction technology and project documentation platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, owners, vendors, and other trade partners.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety practices and jobsite requirements.
  • Willingness to travel and work on project sites as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of experience in construction supervision, preferably within low-voltage, structured cabling, telecommunications, electrical, or data center construction.
  • Experience leading field crews on large-scale commercial or hyperscale data center projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing manpower, production, quality, safety, and daily field operations.
  • Experience working from construction drawings and project specifications.
  • Data center, mission-critical, structured cabling, fiber optic, copper, or telecommunications experience strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, certifications, or construction-related education preferred.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to walk and work throughout active construction sites for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and navigate construction environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental and weather conditions.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or shifts when project schedules require.
