Job summary

Moss is hiring a Superintendent for Sarasota, FL, to plan, direct, and supervise major commercial projects. You will oversee field execution, safety, and quality control, with direct reports and coordination with the Project Manager and Owner.

Strong leadership and OSHA-compliant practices are essential for successful project delivery. The role requires a Bachelor’s in construction management, engineering or related field and 6+ years’ experience on high-value commercial builds ($50–$150+

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in construction management, engineering or related field preferred.
• 6+ years’ experience as the primary Superintendent on commercial construction projects valued in the $50-$150+ million range.
• Experience with multiple direct reports and an exceptional ability to lead and manage project teams.
• Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Participate in preconstruction by identifying project requirements and Owner Contract requirements.
• Conduct preconstruction meetings with all subcontractors.
• Lead the team from construction start through project close.
• Communicate and interpret project scope to the site management team.
• Construct schedules by maintaining a project production schedule; assist in scopes of work for subcontractors.
• Manage safety by establishing safety protocols to meet OSHA standards.
• Communicate regularly with owners and the construction management team.
• Manage project progress by attending owner’s meetings and documenting progress.
• Prepare daily superintendent reports and update the schedule.
• Determine a quality control plan.
• Supervise assigned project personnel and maintain a positive work environment.
• Manage turnover/closeout and assist in turnover sequencing.
• Lead and coach new team members with feedback and evaluations.
• Participate in professional development activities including continuing education.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

They are responsible for all field execution of the project. Superintendents typically will have several Assistant Superintendents as direct reports. Superintendents are responsible for coordinating the timely and cost-effective placement of the contracted work. They assist the Project Manager and/or Project Executive on all project needs. They supervise directly or through subordinates all field construction work, by the company's own forces and by the Subcontractors.
