Job summary

IES Communications in Rayville, LA, seeks a seasoned Superintendent to lead medium- to large-scale projects, ensuring safety, quality, on-time delivery, and profitability while coordinating customers, crews, and subcontractors.

You will oversee planning, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, and continuous improvement, traveling as needed within assigned territories; strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Lead Communications Technician or similar experience.
  • Five+ years of experience in telecommunications or related field.
  • Proficient with a computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Must meet company minimum driving standards.
  • Ability to define a project, create a scope of work, estimate, develop tasks, and manage to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage project teams, including recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, performance management, and employee development.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact and maintain strong client relationships throughout project execution.
  • Oversee project planning, staffing, scheduling, workload distribution, and resource allocation.
  • Manage project budgets, profitability, invoicing, collections, financial reporting, and job cost accuracy.
  • Ensure projects meet customer deadlines, quality standards, and company expectations.
  • Conduct site walks, quality inspections, outage prevention measures, and maintain as-built/redline documentation.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide leadership on complex operational challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across estimating, purchasing, scheduling, warehousing, invoicing, and reporting processes.
  • Promote and enforce safety standards while partnering with training teams to address quality and compliance requirements.
  • Lead operational meetings, training sessions, and oversee company tools, equipment, and vehicle inventory.

Superintendent – Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for the overall leadership, execution, and profitability of medium to large‑scale projects. This role oversees all aspects of project delivery, including safety, quality, staffing, scheduling, financial performance, customer relations, and operational efficiency. The Superintendent serves as the primary liaison between the company and the customer, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company and client requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong leadership experience managing field operations and project teams.
  • Proven ability to manage large‑scale projects, budgets, schedules, and customer relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, blueprints, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to learn and train others on company and customer project management systems.
  • Experience with quality control, financial management, and operational process improvement.
  • Willingness to travel within assigned territories as needed.

Hourly range: Min USD $37.00/Hr. Max USD $45.00/Hr.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Regular attendance mandatory.
  • Must be self‑motivated, positive, and convey professional image.
  • Must promote company culture and mission to all stakeholders.
  • Must possess proven problem‑solving, critical thinking, and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to develop branch and job processes.
  • Must interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications and quality requirements.
  • Must be able to travel within the branch or regional territory as needed.
  • Must be able to learn and teach the company and customer project management systems.
  • Must be able to work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs; stand and walk on large job sites regularly.
  • Must be able to see and distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • Prefer a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Lead Communications Technician or similar position.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
  • Must be proficient with a computer and skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Must meet company minimum driving standards.
  • Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a scope of work, estimate, develop detailed tasks, and manage to completion and customer turnover.
  • Must be able to use trade tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt‑ohmmeter, 4‑pair continuity tester, 5‑gang punch tool.
  • Minimum years of experience 6+.
  • License required; no minimum education (high school).
