Position Essential Duties And Job Responsibilities
  • Daily field oversight of terrazzo projects, serving as the Bonitz on-site lead from mobilization through final polish, sealing, and turnover
  • Partner with the Project Manager as a parallel and equal role: the Superintendent owns field execution, and the Project Manager owns budget, contracts, and change orders, with shared accountability for schedule, risk, and customer communication
  • Direct and coordinate terrazzo installation subcontractors on site, managing manpower, daily production, site sequencing, and adherence to the project schedule
  • Oversee installation of all Bonitz terrazzo systems, including epoxy and cementitious poured-in-place terrazzo, precast terrazzo, wall applications, custom logos and designs, and terrazzo restoration
  • Verify substrate readiness before installation, including slab moisture and relative humidity testing, flatness, cracks and joints, and surface preparation, and coordinate corrective work with the GC when conditions are not acceptable
  • Ensure installations follow approved shop drawings, project specifications, manufacturer installation guidelines, and NTMA guidelines, including membranes and crack isolation, divider strip layout, and pattern and logo placement
  • Coordinate mockups and sample approvals, and verify that field mixes, colors, and aggregates match approved samples across every pour
  • Own field quality checkpoints at each phase of installation (prep, strip layout, pour, cure, grind, grout, polish, and seal) and document results
  • Manage General Contractor (GC) relationships in the field, attend construction meetings, and coordinate trade sequencing, area turnover, and protection of finished terrazzo
  • Monitor installation methods, material usage, deliveries, and staging against plans, specifications, and estimate sheets, and report variances to the Project Manager
  • Recognize and mitigate all potential safety concerns on active jobsites, including silica dust controls during grinding, epoxy and chemical handling per SDS, slurry containment and disposal, and ventilation
  • Meet and exceed all Bonitz, GC, and OSHA safety requirements, and hold subcontractors accountable to the same standards
  • Problem solving: proactively address issues on site, adapting plans and sequencing as needed, and escape cost, schedule, or scope impacts to the Project Manager
  • Complete daily digital project documentation, including daily reports, photos, quality checklists, and necessary jobsite forms
  • Manage punch-list completion and final turnover, including care and maintenance guidance for the owner
  • Provide field input to the Project Manager on subcontractor performance and completed work to support pay application review
