Job summary

MEI Industrial Solutions is seeking a hands-on Superintendent to lead site operations, coordinate with Sales & Operations, and ensure safe, efficient project execution. You will oversee rigging, installation, and crating crews, manage scheduling, and maintain strong customer relations.

Reporting to the Regional Office GM, you’ll drive continuous improvement, attend leadership meetings, and safeguard quality, safety, and on-time performance across projects in the field.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma; related further study is a plus.
  • Min 4 years operations management experience in construction/manufacturing/rigging.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily customer interface including attendance at status and scheduling meetings.
  • Oversee site visits to collect information and relay to quotes team.
  • Develops and implements rigging crew schedules aligned with customer direction.
  • Work with Operations Manager and workforce to meet goals for volume, cost, quality, safety and schedule.
  • Participate in hiring, coaching, training and performance of rigging and installation crews.
  • Promote safety culture and coordinate safety training and incident investigations.

Position Summary

The Superintendent position is responsible for working with Sales & Operations to perform site surveys and customer interaction. Will assist in planning, coordinating, and/or directing processes involved in the maintenance of structures, facilities, or systems. May oversee or otherwise be involved in job site organization, scheduling of labor and materials, and implementation of customer and MEI-specific procedures.

  • Responsible for daily customer interface to include attendance in status and scheduling meetings, working on quality matters, and addressing any concerns or issues.
  • Responsible for site visits to gather information on job walks and relay to Sales / Sales Admin for proper quote work ups.
  • Develops, plans, and implements schedules for rigging crew in alignment with customer direction.
  • Works with Operations Manager & workforce to meet operational goals in terms of volume, cost, quality, safety, and schedule.
  • Participate in the hiring, coaching, training and performance of rigging, crating, and installation crews with best management practices.
  • Develop, train and instruct rigging, crating, and installation crews in best known practices and procedures with an emphasis on safety.
  • Works closely with safety personnel in coordinating safety training, accident and injury investigations and reporting and equipment or property damage incidents investigations and reporting.
  • Works to develop an effective safety culture among employees.
  • Works professionally and effectively along side other onsite subcontractors and vendors.
  • Effectively manage site projects by organizing all project information to ensure they are accurate and contain all necessary information.
  • May participate in selection of asset rigging and installation equipment.
  • Purchase and upkeep of the day to day rigging and installation equipment and hand tools.
  • Actively participate in MEI leadership and management meetings.
  • Build customer and employee relationships with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Develop highly effective relationships with customers, business partners, and support staff.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional conduct representative of MEI corporate mission, vision and values.
  • Work closely with Regional Office General Manager to manage customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
  • Participate with Regional Office General Manager as needed on job walks and assisting with customer bids/estimates to accurately price projects.
  • Develops professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Consistently gain knowledge regarding industry and market information and trends.
  • Reviews plans and other technical documents, answers questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project, and monitors costs and project progress.
  • May assist in the development of cost estimates or tentative schedules.
  • Responsible for planning, administering, and completing assigned projects, which may cross several functional areas, such as facilities, operations, or administration.
  • Assignments may vary in length and complexity but are generally not permanent.
  • Provide work direction to individuals supporting a project.
  • Communicates directly with contractors/designers/owner concerning project cost, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Prepares project status reports and works to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications.
  • Responsible for all job site management activities of the rigging, installation, and crating crews.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)
  • High School diploma with continuing education in Business, Project or Construction Management or related degree a plus.
  • Minimum ten (4) years proven operations management experience or comparable field preferably within the construction, manufacturing or rigging industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, management, supervisory and project management skills.
  • Highly self-directed and motivated.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to get one and acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

This is very physical, hands-on work. A Superintendent must be able to perform General Physical Activities - activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work off the ground at varying heights, and not be affected by moving machinery or parts. Willing and able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors in all types of weather, and over uneven ground or terrain.
