Job summary

Edison Foard, Inc. in Charlotte, NC, is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead on-site construction efforts on complex projects.

You will coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, designers, and owners, ensuring work is performed on time, within budget, and in accordance with plans and safety standards. Responsibilities include supervising onsite staff, managing schedules and materials, reviewing invoices, and supporting project management with procedures and reports.

Qualifications

• Preferred Bachelor's Degree in construction management, engineering, related field, or equivalent field experience.
• Minimum 8 years of commercial construction industry experience.
• Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Procore.
• 30-hour Safety Card Certification or to be completed within 90 days of hire.
• First Aid and CPR Certification or to be completed within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise onsite functions, including scheduling and material control, and provide day-to-day direction to onsite staff
• Supervise craftworkers and subcontractors as required by the contract.
• Review and approve invoices for materials, equipment, and subcontractor pay applications
• Work with the Project Manager to prepare financial reports.
• Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required
• Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, phasing plans, and other working documents
• Ensure all onsite personnel complies with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc. Document all violations, notify project management and recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
• Assume responsibility for the productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.

Summary:

This position builds upon the duties and skills required of an Assistant Superintendent.The Superintendent is responsible for the overall coordination of fieldwork with subcontractors, vendors, designers, and owners on a large or complex project or one or more small projects. The Superintendent is a leader in creating and maintaining professional client, contractor, and subcontractor relationships. This position demonstrates the continued development of an employee's leadership, technical, managerial, and planning skills.

Essential Duties:

The Superintendent provides overall on-site administrative and technical management on the construction project site.Responsibilities include overseeing the total construction effort to ensure the project is constructed per the design, budget, and schedule.Requires interfacing with the client and design representatives, other contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

Other duties include but are not limited to:

The employee may travel when the construction site is not close to the home office or when responsible for activities at work sites.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift 0-25 pounds constantly, 25-75 pounds frequently.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
• Capable of using hands and fingers to grasp and hold items, and ability to reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Required Education and/or Experience:
