Job summary

GH Engage in Boston is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead field operations and ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery. The role involves coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, maintaining schedules, and enforcing OSHA safety standards on large-scale sites.

You will oversee daily site activities, manage safety programs, and drive quality through the project lifecycle, collaborating with Project Managers and executives to achieve client goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in related construction fields.
  • Ability to manage and embrace change; respond to new processes and problems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage, and document day-to-day job site activities with OSHA safety compliance.
  • Direct field personnel per project plan and supervisory principles.
  • Communicate progress and issues to Project Manager daily.
  • Report problems promptly to enable cost-effective solutions.
  • Establish relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Coordinate with General Superintendent on materials, sequencing, scheduling, and personnel.
  • Develop start-up schedule with Project Manager for review by leadership.
  • Assist in formulating construction schedules and maintain baseline schedule.
  • Ensure subcontractors participate in safety pre-construction meetings and maintain SDS and safety plans.
  • Manage project quality team and ensure inspections align with baseline schedule.
  • Coordinate subcontractor performance to meet quality standards and timelines.
  • Attend and chair safety, planning, and progress meetings as required.
  • Complete project documentation, reports, and logs for audits.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day job site activities, including OSHA safety compliance
  • Direct field personnel in accordance with the project plan and the company's supervisory principles
  • Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress to the Project Manager daily
  • Report problems promptly to the Project Manager to enable the most cost-effective solutions
  • Establish effective working relationships with clients and internal team members
  • Seek advice and assistance from the General Superintendent on matters relating to materials, sequencing, scheduling, and personnel

Project Start-Up / Turnover:

  • Identify pre-mobilization activities together with the Project Executive, General Superintendent, and Project Manager
  • Develop the start-up schedule with the Project Manager and submit it to the Project Executive and General Superintendent for review

Scheduling:

  • Assist in formulating and implementing construction schedules in the field
  • Establish and implement the Project Baseline Schedule based on project contracts and subcontractor input, accounting for any elements that may impact the schedule
  • Maintain the schedule and ensure work performed is consistent with the contract and meets or exceeds client expectations
  • Update the Project Schedule monthly
  • Provide a progress report with a two-week look-ahead to the Project Manager and field staff

Safety:

  • Ensure all subcontractors participate in a safety pre-construction meeting before starting work
  • Ensure all subcontractors maintain a full set of SDS sheets on site, along with their site-specific safety plan and a current insurance certificate or OCIP/CCIP enrollment ID
  • Review the project daily to ensure all activities comply with OSHA and other governing requirements and the site-specific safety plan
  • Review safety reports and injury data to assess safety performance on assigned projects
  • Ensure projects are budgeted and staffed appropriately to support safety programs
  • Communicate clear safety expectations to project teams
  • Perform safety inspections using predictive-analytics safety software in accordance with the company's safety program
  • Adhere to all company safety program requirements

Quality Management:

  • Ensure all relevant benchmarks are established and inserted into the baseline schedule
  • Ensure all appropriate individuals are members of the project quality team
  • Ensure all first-delivery and benchmark inspections occur per the baseline schedule so as not to impact subsequent work
  • Ensure inspections are approved, documented, and communicated to the project team

Subcontractor & Site Management:

  • Manage site pre-construction, including the pre-construction survey and job site utilization and staging plans
  • Mobilize the field office and maintain the job site to company standards
  • Organize job site documentation for easy access and review
  • Manage subcontractor performance to quality and ethical standards
  • Work with the PM to identify and resolve personnel issues and construction process revisions
  • Manage all phases of the construction process, including documenting and reporting site activities and progress, managing excavations, and assisting with the Job Site Utilization Plan

Meeting Management:

  • Attend project turnover, mobilization, and coordinate meetings
  • Attend/chair safety pre-construction meetings
  • Attend/chair weekly foreman and safety meetings
  • Attend/chair monthly schedule review meetings
  • Attend closeout meetings
  • Attend owner meetings
  • Attend/chair subcontractor meetings and any others necessary to monitor and manage the project

Administrative Management:

  • Complete and implement construction office checklists, including emergency phone lists
  • Complete daily reports and maintain logs of key activities, files, and shop drawings
  • Manage the quality and condition of all material deliveries
  • Maintain required safety reporting and all other required files to company standards
  • Ensure as-built working drawings are maintained, along with the current drawing log and revision log, and communicate these to subcontractors

Project Closeout:

  • Manage subcontractor closeout, transfer of utilities, owner training, work list, and punch list
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable discipline and experience relative to project size/scope
  • 4+ years of experience in related construction fields
  • Ability to manage and embrace change; responds and adapts to new processes and new ways of approaching problems
  • Applicable area licenses
