Job summary

CEG Solutions is a dynamic design-build firm leading energy infrastructure projects. We seek a Superintendent to drive on-site operations, manage schedules, and ensure safety and quality across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.

The role requires coordinating with subcontractors, proactive issue resolution, and strong leadership. Location is a long-term DC-area project with travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in Mechanical or Electrical System Construction or equivalent.
  • 4 years in Mechanical or Electrical System Construction.
  • 3 years combined in Mission Critical/Hospital/MEP start-up & commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee MEP trade subcontractors, ensuring manpower, sequencing, and schedule adherence.
  • Coordinate material and equipment deliveries with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Review submittals and ensure compliance with design documents.
  • Manage startup and functional testing of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Organize project meetings for critical MEP activities.
  • Coordinate and manage quality control for MEP construction.
  • Assist bidding for mechanical and electrical trades and manage equipment procurement.

With a proven track record of delivering over $550 million in completed upgrades, we partner with prestigious clients, including the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and multiple state agencies, to provide innovative energy efficiency and resiliency solutions.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Superintendent to lead site operations, manage project schedules, and ensure projects consistently meet the highest safety and contract standards. This role focuses on the critical construction startup and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, demanding strong coordination with subcontractors, proactive issue resolution, and unwavering commitment to quality.

Responsibilities
Safety
  • Implement and enforce site-specific and OSHA safety standards for all MEP activities, fostering a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure all personnel adhere to safety protocols.
Subcontractor Management
  • Lead and oversee MEP trade subcontractors, ensuring optimal manpower levels, efficient work sequencing, and strict adherence to project specifications and schedules.
  • Coordinate material and equipment deliveries with subcontractors and vendors.
Technical Oversight
  • Review mechanical and electrical submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications and design documents.
  • Identify and resolve field installation issues promptly, minimizing disruptions while maintaining quality and schedule compliance.
  • Organize and conduct project meetings for critical MEP activities.
  • Work collaboratively with subcontractors and the design team to provide effective conflict resolution for MEP issues.
  • Coordinate and manage the quality control process for MEP systems construction.
Preconstruction
  • Assist in the bidding process for mechanical and electrical trades.
  • Manage the equipment procurement process, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Track and coordinate equipment deliveries.
Commissioning
  • Manage startup and functional testing of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate and support third-party commissioning activities.
  • Manage commissioning documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Client Relations
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Location

Long term project in Washington DC. Ability to travel to Charleston, SC is required.

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Mechanical or Electrical System Construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years’ experience in Mechanical or Electrical System Construction.
  • 3 years combined experience in Mission Critical Construction, Hospital Construction, MEP Project Management, or Mechanical and Electrical System Start-up and Commissioning.
  • Proven experience with OSHA safety standards and construction regulations.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore) and digital reporting platforms.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to build and lead a team.
  • Capable of coordinating and scheduling MEP activities.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
  • Motivated self-starter.
  • Preconstruction/Equipment Procurement experience.
  • Willingness to travel - this role requires you to be on site at the client location.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • Specific certifications (e.g., LEED AP, OSHA 500).
  • Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Performance of the job responsibilities will require the ability to (1) use tools and operate equipment in the field, (2) ascend/descend both exterior and interior ladders/stairs, and (3) move safely around an area under construction. The employee must also be able to easily communicate with clients, stakeholders, and other employees and observe various pieces of equipment in the field. The employee must occasionally move and/or transport up to 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction work site where the employee is at risk of moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Personal protection equipment and required safety training will be provided by the employer.
