Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in Livermore, CA, seeks a SBK Maintenance Inventory Control Specialist to manage ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of materials. We have an immediate opening for anSBK Maintenance Inventory Control Specialist. TheSpecialist will oversee the ordering, storing, receiving and distributing processes of an organization’s products and supplies. Their main duties include controlling the flow of supplies and equipment, tracking and analyzing inventory maintenance and developing protocols for loss mitigation. This position will report programmatically to the Superblock and administratively to the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED) within the Engineering Directorate.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

This position will be filled at eitherlevel based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

In this role you will

• Maintain accurate inventory records using approved inventory management systems.
• Perform routine cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory with system records.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages, discrepancies, damaged materials, or other inventory concerns.
• Assist with receiving shipments and verify contents against purchase orders and shipping documentation.
• Label, organize, and store materials in designated locations.
• Handle materials appropriately to minimize loss, damage, contamination, or misidentification.
• Pick, pack, stage, and prepare materials for internal or external orders.
• Coordinate with shipping, receiving, purchasing, logistics, maintenance, and operations personnel to support timely order processing.
• Enter receipts, adjustments, transfers, issues, and other inventory transactions accurately into the ERP or inventory management system.
• Generate and maintain routine inventory reports and supporting documentation.
• Communicate inventory issues and status updates to supervisors, customers, requesters, and appropriate support organizations.
• Follow established policies, procedures, work instructions, and internal controls related to inventory handling and control.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inventory area in accordance with applicable ES&H, security, and facility requirements.
• Participate in general on-the-job training, including operational, equipment, inventory system, and material-handling training.
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, storage efficiency, and workflow.
• Participate in process improvement activities and provide feedback on inventory procedures.
• Perform other assignment-specific duties as required.

Additional job responsibilitiesat the 538.2 Level

• Coordinate with shipping, receiving, purchasing, logistics, maintenance, and operations personnel to support timely order processing.
• Support inventory control, warehouse operations, maintenance materials, logistics, and purchasing.
• Reconcile inventory records, investigate discrepancies, and prepare inventory reports.
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to learn and apply inventory control principles, terminology, procedures, and institutional systems.
• Ability to follow established procedures and accurately complete inventory transactions and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, planning, and recordkeeping skills.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, scientists, engineers, skilled technical personnel, customers, and vendors.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, and related business or inventory systems.
• Ability to comply with ES&H, security, quality, and inventory control requirements.
• Ability to participate in operational, equipment, and job-specific training

Additional qualifications at the 538.2 level

• Experience in analyzing inventory trends, forecasting demand, and generating reports to inform purchasing and operational decisions.
• Proven ability to independently manage inventory operations and resolve inventory discrepancies with minimal supervision
• Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple organizations and resolve routine materials-related issues.
• Relevant experience in a quality-controlled or regulated environment, includingASME NQA-1, is highly desirable and may be required for assignments involving NQA-1-controlled work.
• Experience providing task-specific guidance or training
• Prior experience working in inventory management

Pay Range

$34.85 - $53.36 Hourly
$34.85 - $42.68 Hourly for the 538.1 level
$43.55 - $53.36 Hourly for the 538.2 level
