Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Summer Assistant to support the County 4-H team in delivering high‑quality youth development options. The role includes planning, delivering, and evaluating events and camps across local and area levels, plus assisting with marketing and outreach.

Responsibilities cover safety, registration, workshops, shows, and collaborations with staff. A valid driver’s license and background checks are required; flexibility in hours and locations is expected

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and plan/teach activities and educational programs.
• Able to carry equipment and materials with or without accommodation.
• Willing to work flexible hours.
• Preference for coursework in education, agriculture, sciences or related fields.
• Previous 4-H experience preferred.
• Requires valid US driver’s license and successful background checks.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and evaluate age-appropriate 4-H events, activities, programs and camps.
• Monitor and ensure safety of all youth participants.
• Participate in regional or state events as needed.
• Support summer 4-H programs, camps, contests and fundraisers (registration, chaperoning, workshops, shows and contests).
• Create news releases and social media content; assist with marketing to increase participation.
• Assist with survey data entry as needed.
• Collaborate with local staff to plan/run programs and events.
• Help Educator reach new audiences and provide opportunities for all youth in the county.
• Submit time/travel reports for reimbursement by deadlines.
• Establish and maintain summer program files; complete end-of-summer reports.
