A community outreach organization is seeking enthusiastic individuals for a leadership role to assist participants with disabilities in achieving their goals during the summer of 2025. This role involves guiding participants through activities such as swimming, gardening, and arts and crafts, while ensuring their safety and enjoyment. Ideal for those pursuing careers in education, nursing, or therapies. The position offers valuable experience and paid training, requiring a commitment to work Monday to Friday in person.

  • Similar work experience is valued but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and supervision for assigned participants at all times.
  • Plan and implement daily free-time activities.
  • Ensure safety for participants by maintaining constant vigilance.
  • Plan and implement daily free-time activities.
  • Organize and maintain order of assigned participants and their belongings.
  • Assist participants with personal cares (toileting, diapering and feeding) and seek assistance when needed.
  • Perform safe lifts and transfers.
  • Assist in setup and cleanup of grounds as needed.
  • Ensure safety for participants by following protocols for hazards and incidents.
  • Attend all staff trainings, meetings, and closing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

We are looking for energetic, caring, responsible and fun individuals to work Monday-Friday in the Summer of 2025 guiding participants with disabilities to achieve goals while enjoying new experiences and adventures in nature. ARCh GAINS (Growing through Achievement, Independence, Nature and Socialization) is for people ages 6-75+ with a variety of disabilities including Down syndrome, Autism, Cerebral palsy, etc.

Spend your summer being unforgettable in the lives of kids and adults with disabilities! You and your participants will create new friends and memories that will last a lifetime through swimming, gardening, life skills, arts and crafts, fitness, nutrition and recreation while working towards a variety of goals.

This is a leadership position that will benefit students or paraprofessionals interested in a future major or career in the field of Education, Nursing, CTRS, Physical Therapy, Health and Fitness, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology. This job will enhance your abilities and experience for future career choices.

GAINS runs through the summer of 2025.

Job Coach Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and supervision for assigned participants at all times and at all areas of ARCh GAINS.
  • Maintain a positive and accepting attitude towards participants, staff, and the whole ARCh community.
  • Assist participants in completing all GAINS activities throughout the day.
  • Plan and implement daily free-time activities.
  • Organize and maintain order of assigned participants and their belongings.
  • Assist participants as needed with personal cares (including toileting, diapering and feeding), requesting assistance from other staff when/as needed.
  • Perform safe lifts and transfers.
  • Assist in the setup and cleanup of grounds as needed.
  • Ensure safety for participants by maintaining constant vigilance. Maintain a safe environment by following appropriate protocol for any and all safety hazards, accidents, incidents, or other endangering circumstances.
  • Attend all staff training, staff meetings, and closing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
