Job summary

RESPEC seeks a Student Engineer (Structural) Intern for our Summer Internship 2027 program in our Rapid City, SD office. This is a temporary part-time position designed to provide real-world structural engineering experience and mentorship from our multidisciplinary team.

Interns will work alongside full-time staff, gaining exposure to design work, calculations, field inspections, and client-related projects across public and private sectors. Compensation varies by experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in civil engineering
• Solid time management skills and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in an efficient manner
• Coursework in steel, wood, concrete, and precast/prestressed concrete design
• Good working knowledge of fundamental of structural engineering concepts
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented
• Strong problem-solving and math skills
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Team player who strives to provide quality work
• Some proficiency with Autocad Revit
