Job summary

Aspire Public Schools is seeking a Summer School Teacher to provide high-quality instruction in a small school setting where every student is known and valued. The role emphasizes high expectations and a pathway to college for underserved students.

You will develop lessons aligned with California State Standards and Aspire Guidelines, assess progress, and collaborate with lead teachers, principals, and instructional coaches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Teaching, or related field.
• Valid California Teaching Credential.
• 1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish a culture of high expectations with a shared belief that every student will attend college.
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with California State Standards and Aspire Instructional Guidelines.
• Assess students regularly and analyze results; refine and differentiate instruction based on data and needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices across the school; share best practices.
• Communicate with students and families about classroom activities and progress.
• Involve parents and guardians as partners in students’ education.
• Maintain accurate student records including attendance.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Aspire Public Schools mission, values, policies and procedures.

What You Will Do:

• Communicate regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress
• Involve parents and guardians as partners in their students’ education
• Manage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged
• Actively participate in professional development activities, and work closely with lead teachers, principal, and instructional coaches
• Maintain accurate student records including attendance
• Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs
• Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior

What You Will Bring:

• Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles
• Knowledge of subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks
• Knowledge of assessments
• Ability and willingness to implement Aspire Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices
• Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data
• Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Teaching, or related field
• Valid California Teaching Credential
