Job summary

Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 is seeking two Summer School Directors to lead middle and high school academic programs for the 2027 summer session. Responsibilities include coordinating program logistics, staff recruitment, student rosters, transportation, and parent communication, with on-site supervision during the program.

Qualifications require a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement, registered in DuPage County.

• Staffing and hiring for designated summer programs
• Coordination of any required student transportation
• Communication with families regarding program information
• Communication and coordination with program staff
• Provide comprehensive on-site supervision and program administration
• All required parent communication

Summer School Director: Middle and High School Academic Programs (2 positions)

• Description: Provide leadership for all aspects of academic summer school programs at the secondary level, including but not limited to:York Academic Summer School, 5th-7th Grade Exploratory & Academic Acceleration, Freshmen and/or ML Academies, and Credit Recovery.
• Stipend: $9,824.99 per position (summer 2027), inclusive of time spent during the summer and during the school year in preparation.
• Qualifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with proper endorsement required and registered in DuPage County.
• Dates in session: June 1 through July 9, 2027 (Monday through Thursday, unless otherwise noted)
• Orientation/Prep Days: Select days/times between May 26-28, 2027

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Prior to Summer School:

• Coordinating and collaborating with district and school administrators, district and school staff, and summer program directors and staff on all necessary program preparation items, including but not limited to the following:
• Communication with district staff regarding program updates, needs, curricular materials and supplies, etc.
• Coordination and/or monitoring of registration
• Creation of class rosters and student assignments

• Coordination of any required student transportation
• Communication with families regarding program information
• Communication and coordination with program staff

During Summer School:

• Provide comprehensive on-site supervision and program administration
• All required parent communication

It is further agreed and understood that said Site Supervisor holds a valid Type #75 certificate or equivalent to direct now in full force and effect, or will procure such certificate before the date he or she shall begin supervising.
