Job Overview

Position Type: Community Education / Recreation Instructor

Location: Minnetonka Community Education Center (MCEC) – Thorpe Park and Freeman Park

Assignment: Several part‑time positions available, 10 weekly hours, Tuesdays‑Thursdays, mornings 8:45 am–12:15 pm. Dates: 06/16/26‑08/13/26.

Primary Objective: To lead an outdoor summer recreation program for youth ages 4‑12, ensuring a safe and fun environment.

Wages

Age 18+: $18.54; Age 16‑17: $14.42. Not medical or dental benefit eligible.

Job Responsibilities

1. Implement fun recreational curriculum and program goals to include field games, arts & crafts, nature activities, and special events.
2. Plan and carry out age‑appropriate activities consistent with class goals.
3. Assist in supervising participants and volunteers.
4. Provide a safe, caring, and fun environment for participants.
5. Establish a positive and friendly relationship with parents.
6. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.

Job Qualifications

1. Must be at least 16 years of age.
2. Evidence of successful experience in and passion for working with children.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of recreation programs.
4. Evidence of positive interpersonal skills; ability to relate well to children and adults.
5. Evidence of successful teaching and/or program leadership.
6. Ability to work under minimal supervision.
7. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
8. Proven record of punctuality and responsibility.
