Job summary

Performance Contracting is seeking motivated college students to join our Associate Project Engineer summer internship program. This internship provides mentorship and hands-on experience to gain insight into the specialty construction industry.

Interns are paired with a dedicated mentor and will work through the Intern Activities Checklist, submit Weekly Project Recaps, and learn about proposals, bid analysis, scheduling, pre-bid walk‑throughs, subcontractor management, and cost tracking.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate pursuing Construction Management or comparable field
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be willing to temporarily relocate for the assignment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word)
• Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Willingness to learn new skills through technical job functions
• Strong customer service skills
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to multitask

Responsibilities

• Learn to write detailed proposals
• Prepare bid analyses and reviews
• Understand and demonstrate project scheduling
• Attend pre-bid walkthroughs
• Learn management of project labor control, materials, and job-cost analysis
• Assist in the management of subcontractors, materials, and equipment
• Work with owners, construction managers, architects, engineers, and contractors
• Assist in quantity take-offs
• Maintain accurate project documentation and correspondence
• Understand preparation of a financial job cost analysis
• Support corporate safety program administration
