Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking a Summer Patent Engineer for a ten-week assignment to join the Intellectual Property Department across offices in Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Washington, D.C. The role targets grads expected in December 2027 or May/June 2028 with an engineering or CS background.

Salary is $70,200/year, pro-rated for the duration of employment, and benefits are not included for this program.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Computer) or Computer Science.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to take on new challenges in patent work.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with patent agents and attorneys to draft and protect patent applications.
• Interact with inventors from innovative companies to understand inventions.
