Job summary

Foley & Lardner LLP invites qualified students to join our Intellectual Property Department as Summer Patent Engineers for a ten-week period. You will work closely with patent agents, attorneys and inventors to protect cutting-edge innovations across multiple Foley offices, including Boston, Chicago, Milwaukee, San Diego, and Washington, D.C.

Applicants must graduate in December 2027 or May/June 2028 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

Qualifications

• Graduating December 2027 or May/June 2028
• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Strong academic background
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with patent attorneys, patent agents and inventors to seek patent protection.
• Assist with patent prosecution and related tasks during the ten-week summer program.
• Engage with Foley offices and teams across the IP Department.
