Job summary

Lakeview Hospital invites student nurses to join as Summer Nurse Interns, working 0.8 FTE for 10 weeks from June 7 to August 13, 2027. Interns will gain hands-on care across Med/Surg, Women's Center, Emergency Care, and MICU, with shadowing in other departments and lunch/learning sessions.

Eligible candidates are enrolled in BAN/BSN/MSN programs, must have CPR, completed at least one in-person clinical rotation, and be Minnesota-based in internship coursework.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a BAN, BSN or MSN nursing program and not licensed.
• CPR certification required before start.
• Must have completed at least one in-person clinical rotation.
• Must enroll in a Minnesota-based internship course.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, high-quality patient care under RN supervision.

Lakeview Hospital Summer Nurse Intern experiences in:

• Emergency Care

Position Summary:

Provides timely, high quality patient care to clients and information to RNs, physicians and other members of a diverse health care team. Collaborates with RN in carrying out plan of care from patient information collected. Assists in providing health information to patients as delegated by RN. Will attend all SSNI professional development seminars sponsored by Park Nicollet. Will be scheduled to work 0.8 FTE throughout the summer. Successful candidates will have good student status, good customer service, telephone, computer and patient care technology skills.

To Qualify:

• Must be currently enrolled in a BAN, BSN, or MSN nursing program and not currently licensed, with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or Spring 2028 (please ensure your graduation date is listed on your resume)
• BLS for healthcare providers issued by American Heart. Must obtain CPR certification prior to start of internship
• Applicants must have completed at least 1 in-person clinical rotation to apply
• Must enroll and participate in a 1 credit Minnesota based internship course

Internship Description:

• 10-week paid internship
• June 7th - August 13, 2027
• Work schedule: 64 hours per two-week pay period (mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts)
• 30 hours of shadowing in other specialty departments
• Intern lunch and learning sessions with fellow interns
• Supportive learning environment for nursing students
• Opportunity to continue in the Extended Student Nurse Internship role until graduation

This is a supportive learning environment for Nursing students at Lakeview Hospital with various opportunities on different units. We care for COVID-19 patients potentially in every department.Inpatient units including:
