Job summary

Koch Fertilizer in Beatrice, Nebraska invites a 2027 Summer Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team for a 12-week program from late May to mid-August 2027. You will gain hands-on experience supporting plant reliability, maintenance, and operational excellence.

You will analyze equipment data, support maintenance efforts, review drawings like P&IDs and PFDs, and participate in root cause analysis to drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technologies, or related field.
• Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2029
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
• Willing and able to meet all physical requirements

Responsibilities

• Take on projects representative of full-time engineers, supporting plant reliability, maintenance, and operational excellence.
• Analyze equipment and operational data to identify improvement opportunities and drive process optimization.
• Support predictive and preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Participate in root cause analysis and troubleshooting to resolve equipment and operational challenges.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, isometrics, plot plans, equipment specs).

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technologies, or related field

Willingness to work full-time during the summer
