Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) invites students to join its Land Surveying Internship Program for Summer 2027 in Austin, Texas. This internship offers hands-on experience with field operations, data collection, and exposure to cutting-edge surveying technology.

You'll work with surveyors and engineers, review project plans, and learn software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and other drafting tools while contributing to real-world projects across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a 2 or 4-year Land Surveying, Geomatics or relevant program.
• Aspiring Professional Surveyor
• GPA of 2.5 or higher
• Passionate about the outdoors and eager to explore different terrains
• A positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to learn and grow

Responsibilities

• Support field operations by reviewing project plans and working alongside surveyors, engineers, and project managers to complete fieldwork safely and efficiently.
• Research project sites by examining property records, deeds, and historical surveys to better understand site boundaries and conditions.
• Operate advanced survey equipment including total stations, GPS receivers, levels, and data collectors to measure distances, angles, and elevations accurately.
• Establish survey control by setting control points, benchmarks, and reference markers to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
• Explore surveying technology and software by transitioning from fieldwork to data processing and learning tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and other drafting software.
• Turn field data into deliverables by processing measurements, creating maps, and preparing detailed survey reports for clients
