Job summary

Webber is seeking an Accounting Intern to support the full cost accounting cycle for construction projects at an office location. This full-time temporary role offers hands-on exposure to budgeting, invoicing, payments, accruals, and variance analysis within the Operations Accounting team.

You will work under guidance to enter budgets, process invoices, verify subcontractor payments, and prepare accruals, while building core construction accounting skills and English communication proficiency.

Qualifications

• Must hold a high school diploma or GED and be actively enrolled in a 4-year Accounting degree program.
• Moderate to high level of computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
• Strong English communication skills, written and verbal; basic math and construction math understanding.

Responsibilities

• Budget management: enter job budgets and compare to actuals.
• Invoice processing: collect tickets, verify PO pricing, and enter invoices.
• Payment verification: enter subcontractor payments per contracts.
• Financial accruals: create material, trucking, and subcontractor accruals.
• Deviation analysis: explain budget vs actual and revenue forecasts.

What You'll Actually Do

• Budget Management: Establish and enter job budgets into the accounting system, then compare them against actuals.
• Invoice Processing: Collect delivery tickets, verify purchase order pricing, and accurately process and enter invoices.
• Payment Verification: Enter subcontractor payments and verify their compliance with contractual agreements.
• Financial Accruals: Create and enter material, trucking, and subcontractor accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Deviation Analysis: Identify and explain reasons for deviations between budget versus actual entries, and from monthly/yearly revenue and gross profit forecasts.

The Must-Haves

• Background: Must hold a high school diploma or GED and be actively enrolled in a 4-year Accounting degree program.
• Experience: Moderate to high level of computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
• Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; strong mathematical skills including discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference, volume, basic algebra, geometry; and a full understanding of Construction Math concepts.
