Job summary

Providence Engineering in Lancaster, PA seeks a Summer Intern, Structural to assist with routine engineering tasks under the supervision of experienced engineers. You will perform basic calculations, support with minor designs, and help manage multiple projects while developing communications, organization, and problem-solving skills.

This role offers hands-on exposure to design meetings, construction meetings, and site visits with mentorship and a focus on RCAT principles.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in structural/civil/architectural engineering with a structural emphasis is required.
• Junior year status in degree program.
• Completed coursework in structural design (concrete, steel, etc.).
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to use Risa 3D, RAM, Tedds, or similar software for structural analysis.
• Ability to present hand-written calculations in an organized and legible manner.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar for project records.

The Summer Intern, Structural will assist with routine engineering work on projects of varying sizes under the supervision of experienced engineers.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Adopt a positive attitude of accountability by providing reliable, constructible, affordable, and timely solutions (RCAT) resulting in Providence being the Engineer of Choice
• Assist with routine or entry-level engineering tasks neatly, accurately, and efficiently to meet budget hours estimate provided by supervisor
• Assist with engineering calculations and minor designs
• Assist with multiple, concurrent projects for various project managers, and sometimes for other branches
• Develop communications skills through correspondence and coordination with internal clients
• Attend design meetings, construction meetings, and site visits with experienced engineer
• Comply with company policies and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned
