Job summary

Allegion is seeking a Summer Intern, Project Engineer to support capital project development and execution at our Princeton site. You will work with the Process Innovation Team to improve production processes, manage vendor contacts, and help deliver projects on time.

You will gain exposure to capital project planning, TPM concepts, and cross-functional collaboration while developing practical engineering and project-management skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support Capital project development, execution and sustainability.
• Manage technical and administrative aspects of capital projects.
• Act as main point of contact for selected vendors and contractors.
• Manage required internal resources to support project execution.
• Evaluate, track and report out on project status and objectives.
• Develop and drive project plans to deliver results on time and on target.
• Develop robust TPM plans to maximize equipment potential and longevity.
• Manage project budgets in concert with monthly expense reporting.
• Exhibit detailed critical thinking skills for complex problem resolution.
• Exposure to Capital Project planning.
• Perform tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
• May perform other duties as assigned and extend into other areas as needed

Summer Intern, Project Engineer - Princeton, Illinois

As an Allegion Project Engineering Intern, you will contribute meaningful work and make a direct impact to the Process Innovation Team. You will gain valuable experience working in a fast-paced production environment, working with the latest technologies and helping to improve Allegion’s overall production process. Core opportunities include project engineering/management exposure, collaboration with key focus teams & pioneering new technologies.

What You Will Do:

• Support Capital project development, execution & sustainability

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity; ability to use fingers and hands to feel, handle, or squeeze; reach with hands and arms; twist/turn body; perform repetitive motions

• Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit, frequently and for extended periods of time

• Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl

• Ability to frequently lift up to 5 pounds, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and rarely lift up to 60 pounds. Any lifts over 35 pounds should be done with assistance.

MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to use two hand controls

• Ability to use pneumatic tools

• Ability to use testing equipment

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Exposure to various chemicals including greases, oils, and adhesives in safe exposure amounts and approved for use in our facility by EHS

• Exposure to temperature changes

• Exposure to moderate noise levels with intermittent loud noises

• Exposure to vibration

• Exposure to dirt and/or dust

• Exposure to sharp objects and parts

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, protected by approved guarding and controls

Compensation:

This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

• The expected Base Hourly Range: $25-$26. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
