Job summary

Doeren Mayhew CPAs and Advisors invites applications for its summer 2028 Financial Institutions Group (FIG) audit internship in Houston, TX. Interns will receive hands-on training during week one to learn audit software, procedures, and workflows alongside seasoned professionals.

As a summer intern, you will perform tasks similar to first-year audit associates and gain exposure to auditing financial institutions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting.
• Completion of at least one intermediate accounting course.
• 3.0 GPA (cumulative and in accounting major).
• Work experience preferred (related or unrelated to accounting).
• Strong drive and motivation to pursue a career in public accounting.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to take initiative through work/activities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven time management and ability to handle multiple responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with audit, review, and compilation engagements.
• Prepare and organize audit workpapers and supporting documentation.
• Perform testing of account balances, transactions, and internal controls.
• Assist with confirmations, reconciliations, and analytical procedures.
• Communicate professionally with clients and firm personnel.
• Research accounting and auditing matters assigned.
• Participate in team meetings and engagement planning.
• Maintain confidentiality of client and firm information.
• Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
