Job summary

The FARM Institute, Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard, MA, is seeking a Camp Educator to support campers ages 4–13 in a farm-based education setting. You will lead curricula on food, farming, and sustainability, supervise activities, and collaborate with training staff during a 35–40 hour work week.

Responsibilities include daily chore routines, field activities, and family communications. This seasonal role reports to the Education Manager/Camp Director and runs from June 8 to August 21, 2026.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or agricultural education, the sciences, education, nutrition, or other relevant course of study preferred.
  • Interest in farm-based education, food, and sustainability; willingness to learn.
  • Gardening, cooking, livestock handling, environmental education, fiber arts, or carpentry experience.
  • Desire to share passion for nature with children from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors with children in all summer weather.
  • Reliable transportation to work each day.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Can fulfill internship credits for relevant majors (optional).

Responsibilities

  • Provide farm-based education to campers aged 4–13.
  • Design and implement curriculum on food, farming, and resource management.
  • Lead age-specific groups for week-long programs.
  • Manage Farm-Based Educators in Training (CITs, ages 14–17).
  • Plan daily activities and weekly farm projects.
  • Lead group activities and supervise farm chores with campers.
  • Maintain reflection and planning worksheets.
  • Communicate with parents about camp questions and camper information.
  • Lead group presentations during Farm Fridays.
  • Perform daily facility chores and classroom cleanup.
  • Meet with Camp Director and Education Manager for performance reviews.
