Program: One-Week Middle School Enrichment Camps (Rising 7th–9th Graders)

Dates: June 15 – July 24 (flexible; instructors may teach 1–2 weeks)

Location: Serra High School, San Mateo

Salary range: $1,500.00 - $2,000.00

Overview

Junípero Serra High School is seeking engaging, innovative educators to lead one-week, project-based enrichment camps for rising 7th–9th graders. Camps are designed to spark curiosity, build skills, and give students a fun, hands-on learning experience in a topic they love. These are not traditional academic classes—they are interactive, creative, and energetic programs where campers learn by doing.

Responsibilities
  • Design and lead a one-week enrichment camp (three hours per day) in an area of expertise or passion
  • Create a hands-on, project-based curriculum that is engaging, age-appropriate, and interactive
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for students with varied skill levels
  • Guide students through daily activities and projects, ensuring safety and meaningful participation
  • Collaborate with summer program staff on logistics, supply needs, and daily planning
  • Communicate professionally with parents and campers as needed
  • Support Serra’s mission by creating a welcoming experience for prospective future students
Qualifications
  • Teaching credential is preferred
  • Experience teaching middle school or high school students is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of and enthusiasm for the subject area
  • Ability to design creative, hands-on learning experiences
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Reliability, professionalism, and a positive, student-centered mindset
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a fast-paced, activity-focused environment
