Job summary

JT Engineering, Inc. in Wisconsin invites civil engineering students to join our summer internship across Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, and Eau Claire offices. You will gain hands-on design and construction experience while contributing to real infrastructure projects.

Under supervision, you’ll draft roadway layouts in AutoCAD Civil 3D, perform basic calculations, prepare reports, and participate in field visits to learn the project lifecycle and teamwork within a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Associate's in Civil Engineering Technology.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Very strong oral and written communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail — organizes, monitors own work, and meets deadlines.
• Able to concentrate on complex problems for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle for travel between jobsites.
• Physically able to perform field work.
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Support the engineering team in highway and bridge design tasks, adding value to active infrastructure projects.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software to draft roadway layouts under experienced engineers.
• Perform basic design calculations and assist with engineering tasks from academic learning to practice.
• Help prepare design reports and technical documents communicating project details.
• Participate in construction site visits, assist with inspections, record measurements, and complete daily reports reflecting site progress.
• Assist in checking field data and calculations using standard engineering practices.
• Strengthen understanding of highway plans and specifications by working with project materials and guidance.
• Assist with CAD drafting or cost estimating tasks to support the team.
