Job summary

JCC Greater Boston is seeking Unit Heads to mentor staff, lead age-specific activities, and ensure a safe, joyful camp experience for campers. You will guide counselors, manage group dynamics, and uphold camp traditions while overseeing a unit of 100–120 campers and 25–30 counselors.

The role offers a nine-week summer schedule (Mon–Fri, 8:30am–4:30pm) with a starting salary of $7,200, plus perks such as health/fitness center access and staff bus service from several communities.

Qualifications

• Must be able to plan and lead age-appropriate activities in specialty areas (arts, sports, STEM, etc.).
• Ability to mentor counselors and support positive group dynamics.
• Strong commitment to safety and camper well-being in all activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and lead age-appropriate activities in your specialty area.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during activities.
• Create a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages skill-building and exploration.
• Work with counselors and camp leadership to provide a cohesive camper experience.
• Maintain and organize supplies and equipment for activities.
• Adapt activities to meet diverse camper needs.
• Support camp-wide events and large-group programming as assigned.
• Assist with overall camp operations (drop-off/pick-up, transitions, lunch, supervision).
